Is wall to wall carpeting out of style?
Our upstairs currently has wall to wall carpeting and I don't want to spend the money on it if won't add to the value of our house. Any thoughts?

DIAspoton not a fan of carpet myself. some people like neutral carpet in bedrooms but only if it looks brand new. so i'd go with wood. especially if you're thinking of selling in 2 or 3 yrs.

olldbobbi It's not out of style in my mind! I love carpet, especially in the bedrooms. As long as it's clean and in good condition, that is!

wildfan I think it depends on your region. We are in MN and carpet on the 2nd level especially is very standard. I like to have carpet in the bedrooms.

soberg Wall to wall is definitely not the hottest new look, but it is very widely used for bedrooms in both existing houses and new construction. Most people (IME) want carpet in bedrooms, even in California. It's soft and warm and quiet. I believe 95+% of your buyers will be glad to see a beautiful, neutral, flat pile wool or nylon carpet in all bedrooms.
