ASVInteriors Double staircases are by nature dramatic. You can either play it up or make it low key. Just bear in eye has to have a focal point (usually in the centre) which is why chandeliers and a table in the centre draw the eye to mid-point and the stairs "frame" the tableau.

If you look at the images below - a table with a centre piece plant or flower, some chairs to the side and a stunning chandelier or modern pendant light may give you ideas
