wmpj Try placing the sofa (and coffee table) so it's facing the fireplace and move the chairs to where the sofa is now. I think the tv is fine but you could buy an armoire to store it in so that it's not always visible.
pcmom1 Getting ready to say exactly the same thing as wmpj.
To find armoire for tv, check out local furniture consignment stores. Mine has many right now as people keep buying larger and larger tvs! If you can't find an armoire, at least get a wider, more substantial piece for tv to sit on.
Keitha Love the slipcover look of the sofa. What about doing the same with the wing chairs? They look a little too " country". Replace the table-lamp with something that has more of a cottage feel :-).
JWinteriors Not having all info on this room...i would put sofa on left wall with the 2 chairs where the sofa is now. Coffee table centered with fireplace and side tables to hold lamps. I would install 3floating shelves on either side of fireplace for accessories. I would hang art on fireplace..add a mantle? Place an 8x10 area rug under seating area. Place a large armoire for tv where the 2chairs are presently. Hang window panels on either side of window. Add art to walls to keep your eye moving around the room. This way, you have a conversation area, where you can see the fireplace and the tv.
lastplace I would agree with the placement suggested. If the couch blocks off the kitchen, maybe put a sofa table behind the couch with a lamp or decor on it. This will give you a walk way to the door seen beside the chairs and you can enter the room to the left near the glass doors. Looking at the back of a couch feels like it is in the way, but a sofa table behind it will introduce your room.
deba51 Where the chairs are now is only a small wall and the door you see is the door to the laundry room tried the couch there but every time someone walks by the would walk right in front of you and the couch is to big for that wall, we thought of bookcases on either side of the fireplace.
lastplace ok the couch moves to the opposite wall, which will open up space in front of your doors
then place the tv on the right hand side of the fireplace
then place the tall book shelf on the wall where the chairs are now
then place on of the arm chairs on an angle close to the couch facing the tv
then place the other arm chair in the opposite side next to the large window or door on the right side on an angle again facing the center of the room. This will be more open and less heavy
