What color for the spindels???
I stripped and sanded the 400 layers of white paint off my handrail and spindels. I am going for a contemporary spanish look, and really wanted to replace the whole thing with iron, but just can't spend $700 right now for it. So instead, I thought I'd see if a coat of paint could spruce it up a bit. So far I painted the handrail flat off black, but I'm torn on the spindels. I'm leaning towards black, but my husband thinks white would be better. I think white might look a little too colonial, but what do you guys think???
Some side notes about the rest of the house: all the walls and trim are white. All hardware is ORB. The grey slate tile is only in that entryway and kitchen and the rest of the flooring is the laminate seen in the photo. We have tried to draw in color through artwork.

Susan Corry Design I don't think you can go wrong with black or white, but if you're looking for a contemporary Spanish vibe, I recommend the black, since it's similar to iron. Plus, it's unexpected but still tasteful. You can't go wrong with that!

buttrfluttr Oh yes, definitely black! Classy and sophisticated and much less of a colonial vibe that white would give would those turned spindles. Would love to see an after photo!
