"grown up" decor for 8yo girl's room
She doesn't want a kids room. She likes black. She has a big French black armchair. The ceilings are beautiful and the window has shutters. We want to make this room elegant but with some colour. We were thinking wallpaper on one wall. But how to match wallpaper with that chair, and a rug, and get colour in, and make it fun...??

By the way this season IKEA are doing great black and white accents (so cheap and cheerful)

How about: making the wall behind the headboard a feature wall by painting it (off)black and adding wall stickers like these trees and birds from Etsy.

There is also wallpaper that has trees on it, black&white.
Paint the brown furniture either beige (very chic with black & white), white, black or in a pop-colour like lime green, orange or fuchsia pink if she likes that. The rest of the walls in an (off)white.
Can you centre the bed on that wall? Somewhere where the gorgeous chair is now? Or does she like to sit on her bed, leaning against the wall? In which case I'd add some cushions. And a rug in front of the bed.

Will hopefully give you and your daughter some ideas. You can add just almost any colour (yellow, or orange, or.... in stead of pink) and mix every style.
What are your thoughts and your daughter's thoughts about these ideas?
I am wondering if your daughter has another room in the home for her toys?
I like the feature wall idea. But she thinks the idea of a totally different colored wall is weird. I will keep working on that! She is interested in the tree decals from etsy. Thanks for that one.
Toys are in another room. The bedroom will eventually include a desk, but not yet.
Pics to follow.
And yes, that brown furniture has to go!!
