Ideas for new deck
I am planning to add a deck to my backyard. I have a small backsplit with only a side entrance to the backyard. There is not enough room at the side of the house for a wraparound deck, but I want the deck to feel connected to the house. My prior homes have always had patio doors that lead right to the deck, which feels more like an extension to the house. I have looked through images, and haven't found anything that suits my space. Anyone have any ideas?

tdstonge Here are some pictures. the first one is taken from the side door, looking down towards the yard. There is only about 3 1/2 feet between the house and the fence at the side of my house. The second picture is the back of the house where the deck will go. I probably won't go the entire width of the back of the house.

tdstonge Actually, the third picture is the back of the house, the second is the side view from the back of the house.

Arlene Warda, Architecture+Interior Design How about stone steps, or stone path to deck and rest of house. A change in materials? it could be really nice. One doesn't have to have all deck. Landscape and groundcover work too!..

tdstonge I was thinking of something like this, with the stone at the side of the house leading to the wood deck at the back.
