Need help with tiled sofit above upper kitchen cabinets
I'm looking for a temporary solution to my "post -Sandy" kitchen redo concerning the existing (1960's) tiled sophit. Paint tiles; replace tiled area with plain drywall; or tare out ? If I tare out then how do I deal with the space between top of cabinets and ceiling ? Thanks for any feedback,

Ironwood Builders 8' ceilings? What style are you going for? Post some ideas for the designers to work with.

pfmsr Yes 8'. I would say eclectic. I'm planing on keeping the cabinent base and ordering new doors and door fronts and then painting them (perhaps black); and then replacing counter top with butcher block (perhaps maple). Also replacing floor with Forbo Click and Lock (thinking of beige/black checkerboard) The sofit and backsplash are 1x2 beige/white/gold fleck tile. Thanks !

Dytecture I personally dislike open spaces above the cabinets, perhaps if you remove the tiles that are could be replaced with drywall.
