Kitchen wall color help please?!
I am having a hard time picking out a wall color to fit the wheat colored cabinets and yellow granite counter tops. The floor is oak. The kitchen does not have a lot of natural light.

I was thinking that some sort of gray would be nice, and tried sherwin williams: repose gray, crushed ice, and sea salt. I am not totally convinced on any of them.

Help please?!

Dan Graham How about an over all picture of the kitchen so we can see it all together?

revss Re inadequate light: we're in a mid-century limestone ranch that had a very dark inner room/ofc. and a windowless bath. Had skylights done in both-just a solar "tunnel" in bath. Makes a world of difference! Now planning a remodel on our dark K which has windows only on N wall. Will add 2 solar tunnels, I think.

I have a painter-friend whose imput is very helpful in my choosing colors. Some paint suppliers offer consultations with their colorist (I think women do a better job, in my experience). Their expertise in knowing tones, base qualities, etc. can be incredibly subtle yet transformative to a space.

Not sure personally how grey would work with the wheat cupboards; again I'd get a colorist!

Happy project!

Denice Shuty What ever you do, look at paint swatches in the room during the day and night. Paint test areas on the walls and observe how sunlight and artificial light affects them. I like your cabinets, hardware and granite - you'll be able to find a good color for those.

Rebecca Loiselle Here is the full kitchen view. The kitchen is attached to a small dining area which is surrounded by windows and a french door, but the light really only enters though the french doors.

revss: We are keen on those solar tunnels. The only thing stopping us is that we want to do a second story addition eventually, plus we have a flat roof.

Lizabeth First off, I love your cabinets and granite. I know you didn't ask but can you trade that white stove/microwave for either black or stainless? That will make it easier to pick a color.

Denice Shuty Thanks, The doors seem to bring in quite a bit of light, so with such pale wood I would go with a darker wall color, but definitely nothing in the green family. Add some can lights in the ceiling, or some rope lighting under the cabinets to eliminate shadowy areas. Are you keeping the white appliances, or can you change them?

eztia If you decide to put lighting under the cabinets, consider "warm" color LED light strips that can be dimmed.
