Wall color and what area rug
peppie43
February 25, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Need help picking out the right gray color for the walls and what kind of area rug to put with a egg plant couch. I would appreciate any suggestions of a light color of gray to put on the walls

I don't think I would pair grey with the aubergine sofas. I would look into some of the warm taupes and sands instead.

Washington, DC

For a rug, I would consider a plush tone on tone ivory/taupe.

If you've got your heart set on grey take a look at Stone Harbor and Revere Pewter by BM.

Hard to tell from the pics but aren't the birds on the pillows a light grey? You could go with that.

If not gray what taupe or sand color would you recommend? It's so hard for me going to the paint store and finding that right color. So many to choose from

Bring one of those pillows to the paint store and see which colour goes with it.

The grey/taupe with white trim looks really nice.

I would think of a beautiful red color carpet .That would give character to your living room and you could add some red ornaments to match the red of the carpet .

Some sandy taupey colors to consider are Brandon Beige, Camouflage and Shaker Beige - all by BM. I recommend going and getting some swatches to decide which ones work best for you. Then when you've narrowed it down to 2-3 paint large samples on all four walls and let them dry completely before you assess them. You'll also want to observe them at different times of the day and evening. Paint colors can take on a whole new personality after dark - with only artificial light illuminating a room.

And, you can always post here and we'll give you our opinions!

ETA: I changed my mind about Camouflage - too green.

I just painted a room BM Edgecomb Gray and love it. It is a gray/beige color so works with either. Great color!
