How bad does this look?
I know the picture is too high but I would like to have some suggestions.

New lighter colored drapes have been ordered.

I would like a new sofa and two chairs with a design but my husband likes this furniture.

I like the rug but it could be changed or removed.

msfitness40 I think the neutral furniture is fine. I would paint the walls, replace the area rug with a new one that works with the new wall color. Also adding some throw pillows that are a bit more colorful. The room as it is right now is just a whole lot of beige with no accent colors. Better to have neutral furniture and add some color on the walls and in your accessories.

anne dee I think more information might be needed.
Your style preference, colors.
Do you intend to keep the wood furniture.
How does the hutch fit in with the rest of the decor.
Pictures from other angles might be helpful.
Focal point? etc.

k2cochran I think MSFitness hit it... pops of color added to this room would be great!

onlylooking I like the colors in my posted picture. The wood furniture was just refinished from light oak - they will stay. The rug is new and I like it. I have the same rug in my foyer. The china cabinet matches the dining room table which is behind the love seat. What wall color do you suggest?

hopesilver well then, you seem pretty happy with your room after all.

michigammemom I like your birch tree art and neutral furnishings. I would however suggest an area rug that contrasts a bit more against your peachy beige carpet. I love this terra cotta rug from Pottery Barn as well as the Kalamakari throw pillow that repeats the earthy colors in your art.

cloudbusting I think you need some pop of color. You look young and vibrant and the room looks older.
I'd take out one of the tiers of the curtains.

Digital Imaging by Tina - Interior Designer To be honest, I’d break up the monotony of the space by incorporating variations of colors from the rug. If you’re husband does not want to replace the sofa’s; a cheaper way to go is to reupholster the sofa’s. My preference would be to bring in some brown tones into your space by tying in the colors from the rug with accent pillows. I’d go with a more beige tone sofa. In the image we have Sherwin Williams Nuture Green SW6451, 13.5x13.x5x10-Earth Bamboo Opaque Ciclee lamps, Cypress end tables, Varaluz Dreamweaver 4 ½ wide sconce. onlylooking Thank you Tina for the image. I never thought of placing the furniture this way. Now, another way to move it around!
