Help make this Dining Room a bit less contemporary
I'm working with a client in hopes of making this Dining Room less contemporary and more transitional. Any ideas? Thank you!

Dytecture The chandelier and dining set are so retro and contemporary.

Decor and You - Massachusetts @dytechture - I agree. The client doesn't love them but spent a lot of money on them so I am helping them add a little warmth to the room. I am going to paint, add window treatments as well as some texture to the space. Thought this collaborative community would have some great ideas too! Thanks!

saraselvaggio I would change out the light and the chairs and add some curtain panels for starters.

Keitha I suggest different chairs at the ends of the table and area rug to soften the room

JUL313 Gallery Love the idea of softening with chairs and rug. The room needs some art as well which could really take it in a new direction. I have several pieces I have completed that would look great. Contact me at julie@jul313.com. Or visit my website at www.jul313.com

Amy Stanley I would change the entire dining set and the light it is really the only thing in this room screaming contemporary. - sell them to get money to replace!

mollykahn Change the chairs to high back parson chairs with some color or pattern in them. Then put a center piece on the table.

aniluap2 I would change the table to a more transitional wood table and leave the chairs and chandilier . A rug like the ones posted above and maybe some more transitional chairs at the ends of the table would definitely change the feel from contemporary .

James Franchek I like these two ideas. The floor rug would help coupled with a wooden table, but I would also use a chair or ceiling molding and a more traditional color on the walls and ceiling. No shades on the window and a striped pattern drapery would help.
