Please help us pick the right rug for this room!
Once in a while we encounter a space that seems open to various different rug styles as well as colors. This room is a beautiful, open and bright family room with water views and tons of light and the owners would like to keep it casual yet practical and at the same time with a certain amount of panache. The three choices of rugs are :
1- A fine contemporary textured rug in pearl tones with vivid touches of dark grey and black accents.
2- A transitional design rug with distressed rustic finish done in neutral cool hues of taupe and grey.
3- A natural hair cowhide leather rug in natural beige and brown tones.

Help...Which rug should we recommend in order to best create the easy yet stylish feeling that our client is aiming for?

critterdesign Personally I like the middle one. it is light, yet has some interest.

sherryshops Number one is the most serene-two is interesting-need a pop of an accent color with throw pillows

Bradley Bayou Depending on the clients sense of style and the rest of the homes decor...I'd go with the third picture! It allows for addition of either warmer or cooler colors, while still keeping the large white leather sofa grounded.

Kelly I am drawn to the 3rd one for some reason- it is so unique and i like the darker colors that can be pulled from it. The seating is large and this just really anchors it for me

Rugs by Zhaleh The middle rug is made from natural caw hide, Although the tones found in the rug are beautiful but the client seems to favor the feeling of wool rugs... still trying to decide

it seems that the lady of the house also prefers the first rug although it might be a bit too traditional compare to the rest of the house. The touch of color is a great suggestion, thank you. We might actually try to show something with more color.

CMR Interiors & Design Consultations Inc. They are already in order. Far left-#1.

Rugs by Zhaleh To be honest number three ( modern design rug) is one of our favorites because of the large and open scale of the design as well as the airy & neutral colors. But client is undecided and we are very much open to your suggestions.

printesa The sectional seems modern (don't know how the rest of the house is). So based on that, I would go with the third rug. The first one is nice, but traditional. The second one is nice, too. It blends in well. It all comes down to what the owner likes.

misspeggy7 The one in the middle looks like 1980's linoleum. Sorry, but it does to me. The other two are nice. Not sure which one I like best. I think #3.

Lori Wallace-Roberts I adore the third one. I agree with @misspeggy...when I first saw the photo I thought the rug in pic 2 was 80s linoleum.

Darzy I vote #1...It's more classic and I wouldn't tire of it as I may with the others.

tea77 #1. I also thought #2 was an old floor at first.

sondramartina I vote for #1. Third one looks like old concrete floor, second one is just O.k.

PYRAMID DESIGN GROUP None of the above, the room is screeming for some color and or bolder pattern.

Rugs by Zhaleh We also did show something with more color and We wanted to share it as well! A brand new Ikat pattern in teal colors to bring a deeper tone that would go with the water views. It did not make it to the top three though! It seems a calmer palette is preferred although we still think it looks astonishing. Could having this much color be too limiting for the client?

marcmarg I like # 1. It's soothing & relaxed. I find the third one distracting from the wonderful sectional.

Bickhaus Homes The first would be best. I wish you had it in the tan with red hues as opposed to blues. The middle is awful. And the last one locks them into a style. The first one is traditional and will have a more timeless appeal. Not loving the blue tones though. Late 80's Early 90's. Bleh.

I'd love to see some real color in the rug though. It's just not hitting it. Like 25 reddish brown cow skins sewn into one rug or something. The palate is left as needy. If you HAVE to pick one of those. The first one. But really if it were my home or client, I'd move on from those.
