victoriathibeau Unless you want to spend a lot of money I suggest painting the facia white, keeping the trims all white and painting the door a bright color that you love.
chelle5 I need to replace all of the sofit and facia anyways as it is still just plywood. The windows need replacing too, that's why I thought about coordinating the three. I was thinking dark teal for the door. and painting the garage door to blend with the house. And I was thinking of doing dark shutters. What do you think?
Tres McKinney Design consider painting the windows, facia, soffit, the garage door and all trim a dark taupe or khaki green.
Then paint the front door (not it's trim) any color you like. If you are keeping the lattice and railings on the back deck then paint it also the same color as the trim. I would eliminate the shutters as they are not authentic to the width of the front windows. A large lantern by the front door would add interest. Add more evergreen foundation plantings that look great year round.
chelle5 Thank you for your advise! I like the dark taupe idea. I need to be able to live with it for a long while.lol I would like to have mullions of some sort on my new windows. What would you suggest? Would I also paint the post taupe? There is another door by the garage. It leads into my laundry room, but everyone uses it to come in to the house, would that get painted the same colour as my front door? As for the lattice, we are planning on taking it down and putting up a pergola. We need shade there in the summer.
kathleen MK I think it would be hard to fine a taupe to go with the terra cotta brick. White is classic and you could add a punch of color on the door. Teal or other greens will play off the redbrick. So would a earthy gold tone. You can get pre-painted Hardi-plank if you are replacing the trim, fascia etc. You could do everything a white or creamy beige and add a pop of dark green or charcoal as trim.
