Need Help Choosing A Light Fixture
I've almost completed my dinning room and I appreciate all of the help you have all given me. Well, now I need help choosing a light fixture. My painter is coming on Monday and he agreed to hang a new fixture so I have little time. I'm trying to make the room a little bit modern to work with my office across the hall. Here's what I've found so far, also help with paint color would be appreciated. I'm trying to tie in the rooms, my hall is clay color and the office is Benjamin Moore Solitude. I don't want the room to be too close in color. I thinking about BM Revere Pewter, galveston gray and harbor gray (for the trey ceiling) Help!!!

Frank Webb's Bath and Lighting Center I like the last picture, it has the modern drum shades but still looks like a chandelier!

BY DESIGN Builders Are you near a LampsPlus store? They have so many more interesting fixtures, and most likely better made (just our opinion).
Here is a nice clean and transitional fixture: http://www.lampsplus.com/products/crystorama-luxo-satin-nickel-26-inch-wide-chandelier__m3704.html
And this one, we have seen installed, is simply gorgeous: http://www.lampsplus.com/products/hampton-collection-antique-brass-24-inch-wide-chandelier__m4020.html
LampsPlus ships relatively quickly and at reasonable cost.
Our advice is to call an electrician when you have received your light, not rush to a big box store this weekend and "settle" for one because you're in a rush.
This is something you will look at every day :-)

Barbara Griffith Designs I like BM Revere Pewter of the 2 you selected. Do BM Edgecomb Gray (HC-173) on the vertical sides of the tray and repeat Revere Pewter on the ceiling portion. It will be a totally different shade than the walls on the ceiling. Thank you for painting the ceiling..I always paint ceilings. Please use only a flat or matte finish for all your paint. ( In high traffic area I use an Exterior Flat for more durability) I would use nothing else. And this is my choice for a light fixture it is modern and very chic. http://www.lightingdirect.com/artcraft-lighting-sc438-madison-8-light-up-lighting-chandelier-from-the-steven-chris-collection/p1831221

Add black drum shades to your buffet lamps. I would add a large mirror over the buffet. Move the art piece and add more large colorful art to the room..like a gallery. If you can change the fabric on the chairs I would choose a nice wide stripe fabric. There seems to be a shine on the chairs, so maybe they are leather.

What is on your windows? Choose a fabulous light gray silk, simple panels, just off the window sides.

kwhite014 I think I'm going to paint the room revere pewter with a darker gray on the ceiling and the pewter in the tray first and then figure out the lighting. I love how the dark brown looks with the revere pewter so I'm thinking about a dark stain light.

bojaby I like your paint choices. Your table and floor a pretty dark so be sure the light you choose isn't too dark in color and there is sufficient wattage.

marcysquad Check out this light that won't break the bank..... Less than $200, but you will need to assemble it.

mommajoan I agree with the drum shade recommendation. I recently looked all over and found a great one at a fantastic price at Overstock .com. Give them a peek. Good luck!!!

Nob Hill Design - Allied ASID Go to Hammerton Lighting. I'm sure you will find something there that will give you the look you are seeking.

marcysquad I always like to try and work with what I have first.... What about instead of buying a new chandelier (even though I originally recommended one above), try updating yours.
Take it down, remove bulbs, spray paint it a dark brown and then add nice shades... either the traditional shape or drum. I think yours has potential. Before rehanging, add a simple medallion to the ceiling and a silk chain cover in a neutral color.

kwhite014 Hmmm, thanks for giving me something to think about, once I get it painted tomorrow I will decide on lighting.

marcysquad If u do spray paint it, cover inside the bulb area with blue painters tape.

Digin home design idea center There are so many fun lighting choices you can do on a budget. It will depend on the size of your table , and if you want one light or three. Home Depot has one

That would be great with your table to do in a group of two or three. A drum light would be a safe bet because your wall sconces have drums as well. This one from lowes is great also

kwhite014 Well the project is almost complete, I've changed the wall color from faux brown to grey and I purchased a light fixture (I love) from Lux Lighting. Now I want to make sure I have something beautiful on the walls, I love dark brown and cream. Any ideas would be appreciated.

coratan I love what you've done. May I ask what color of grey paint you used, or dining rooms look similar. I was wanting to change the color of the wall

kwhite014 I really like Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter, I got the color from a designer on Houzz.

kwhite014 Thanks for the advice, I don't want the room to be too neutral, I'll look for a mirror or picture.
