Jayme Hobbs What colors are your furniture and what colors do you like?

phil6092 We like neutral colors accented with more vibrant colors. My wife would like to accent with burnt orange and possibly some yellows and reds. Here is our sectional and pottery barn cabinet. Thanks for all the help

phil6092 We are just confused bc it seems as though nearly every house on here has white trim and you can see with our dark floors cabinets windows and trim we are afraid of it becoming too dark too quick....is there a color we should think about besides neutrals?

Matt Patterson Custom Homes Taupey gray trim w creme walls is cutting edge and different. Try ISA crewel work on walls and smokey gray trim

Connie Francis imho, i think its all too dark! In the kitchen, I would go for a white (marble) benchtop, and perhaps change the stools also to white, to contrast against all the dark wood. I cant imagine using anymore red/orange or yellow in the room- i think it would clash with the beautiful red in the floors. I would consider changing the sofas to white

phil6092 LOVE the marble countertop idea and white chairs! We haven't moved anything in yet but want to be ready to paint when we close. What backsplash would you do with a marble countertop?

phil6092 So no orange even with that room even if it is lightened up with color and those heinous red couches are out of there? I like your style more opinions plz

Jayme Hobbs Behr Wheat bread...the floors are darker in this pic.. a grey-beige like color would prob work. You need to get samples and compare in your light and against your cabinets etc...In your livingroom, you have a lot of area to cover, high ceilings, etc. so some color will be fine. Several of the pics posted show fairly neutral colors that prob. could work with your house, even if you don't have white trim.

Jayme Hobbs Also, in a few of the pics you can see accents of yellow and/or orange used in spare. An area rug in your livingroom and drapes can further help with lightening if you are worried about things getting too heavy with your darker wood and trim. In your kitchen u could go with a lighter, coordinating version of your living room color as well. Don't feel like you have to go white or stark because of the dark wood.

Jayme Hobbs Dark kitchen cabinets...examples of backsplashes and counters...With dark floors and cabinets I think u will need light in your backsplash and counters...then pick paint afterwards...

All 4 Show, LLC Wait until you move in to make the decision. I know it's easier to paint before actually bringing in the furnishings, but choosing the paint is best once you can test it first in the actual space. I love sample paints for that very reason....congrats on the new home!!! :)
