Trying to decorate room with fireplace and funky door ways
I'm trying to figure out what furniture to buy. I would like a seating area around the fireplace with possible tv viewing. Maybe additional table with chairs for games, eating, etc. 22 ft by 18 ft

n247080 First, remove the small child. Although cute, she seems counter productive. (kidding!)

What are your plans for using this room? What will you do in it? Everything seems cramped into one area, all one color, and short on lighting, places to set things and storage. Spreading things out and using the whole room seems a must.

What rooms are connected to this one? Do you haeve another shot of the room from standing in the doorway and looking into the room? It's hard to make suggestions without a better idea of use of room and seeing all 4 walls.

carole please do!!more pictures more input!!looks like this needs to be the family room??any style you like best??glad you are thinking of some new furniture, these seem big for the space you have!!if there is room, keep a playcorner free for your "princess";-) and one for the computercorner, something like this?
then group the seating around the tv,this way the family all have their zones but can still be comfertable together in the one room....

Kelly Lots of storage with doors for toys and games would be my first suggestion. This looks like a room that gets a lot of use and the family gathers there for fun. A game table maybe? Choose seating that is easy to care for with micro suede fabric. It is easy to choose large overstuffed furniture, but that can have a messy look. A sectional in a neutral color. Large, soft throw pillows for the floor. A soft area rug for laying around. The room seems dark so lighting is very important- a dimmer switch so you can change the brightness for different activities. Track lighting may be an answer. A large low, durable coffee table for play.

Dytecture Is there a TV in the room ? Consider pulling the sofas back from the fireplace for a more comfortable arrangement. A storage wall suggested by carole would be a nice place to put all the toys when not i use.

bojingles The current furniture is definitely going! Princess is staying (ha ha). I have an office and a den. Hoping to make this room multi functional. More for adults to visit while kiddos are in the other rooms playing. Thinking about a sectional but doorways seem to be "in the way"! The fireplace is used daily during the winter (no natural gas for heating) so we spend a lot of time by the fireplace in the winter. Would like a t.v. So adults don't have to watch Calliou! Having a really hard time figuring out layout because to enjoy the fire...need to be close.
