Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design I'd select the rug you want to use in the room and take inspiration for paint colors from it. It may end up that your walls should be white, or taupe, with an accent wall or two in a color from the rug.

Both of the rugs below would go with your beige leather furniture, but the colors you would select to use with one are different from what you would select to go with the other.

Of course it would be perfectly safe and quite nice to have all white walls. You could always add color to one of the walls later.
