Mirror above a buffet
I bought a mirror to fix above the dining room buffet. I think we would fix it on it vertical side. First, is it tall enough, considering the fact that the height of the walls is 9 ft? And if the mirror is tall enough, what space do I let between it and the buffet? Thank you!

decoenthusiaste It will work and don't worry about the 9' wall. Just hang it so the bottom of it aligns with the part of the lamp where the foot and slender piece connect - maybe 4-5" off the buffet I'd say. My main concern with mirrors is whether or not they will reflect anything beautiful or interesting. Is there a view through the window or will it reflect the chandelier? If so, those might qualify to merit reflection. Remember, a mirror really doubles what is reflected, so it should be something you like well enough to see twice!

collettec I think it's too small for the space. I think that a square mirror would work better and agree with deco that what it reflects is something to consider as well.

Dytecture I agree, the mirror should be taller.

Stphanie Labelle Thank you for your advice! The mirror reflects my curtains (which I love) and our outside patio (well, future outside patio!) I think it has his place, but may be will reconsider it size.

Doria Tremante I agree the mirror is a touch too small for that application. Side note: I LOVE those lamps, where did you get them?

Riddle Construction and Design This mirror is way too small for the wall and the ceiling height. You need one that is half again as high to offset the height of the ceiling and wall otherwise it will look too ditzy. I like the lamps tho...

Stphanie Labelle Thanks! Lamps are from Structube (Canada).

decoenthusiaste Items hanging above furniture should, generally, not exceed 75% of the furniture's width. Nine foot ceilings are the new eight!

figureskating22 I would get a bigger mirror. Maybe one with some metal.
