Master bath renovation
I'm redoing a master bath. A friend who does lighting says we need vanity lights. We have canned lights. Fairly big vanities - nearly 70 inches each. Do we add to mirror, a fixture that hangs over the mirror or side-like scones?

Norm Walters Construction Inc. If the sinks are in the center of the 70" vanity, then wall sconces on each side of the mirror which is centered on the sink would look good.

Twisted Minds Custom Designs You do need lighting on the wall and not just the can lighting overhead. Overhead lighting will cast shadows on the face and makeup appllications will be skewed. I'm half ashamed to know so much about these things, but my wife is an Esthetician and by association I've learned more about skin care and beauty products than I care to admit. The more light sources you have, the better. That's why when you see pictures of Hollywood makeup applications they are in front of mirrors with a multitude of lights on top and down each side.

Norm Walters Construction Inc. Reminds me of a job I did with two fixtures that held four bulbs each, the customer put 75 watt bulbs in them and his wife said the makeup was running off her face as she was putting it on.

kgarrison1 more lights! we moved into a house with only overhead can lights, and it is terrible for make-up. i end up sitting on the floor with a mirror trying to get light without a shadow. for sure a fixture on either side of each mirror, or a backlit mirror. I cant add ours until we tear up the walls and add more power sources

kthomaswat Thanks for your help. I'm in the process of looking for the lights. I hope to post a photo when done.
