Need help for the interiors of my new house which is too small
Recently we have bought a new house in Mumbai, India. Its too small. The bedroom is approx. 9" X 11", the living room is approx. 9" X 14.9" and the kitchen is approx. 9" X 6.11". + We have 3 patios attached to the bedroom, kitchen & the living room. These are also quite small. How do we choose furnitures for our house? Specially we are a little worried about the bedroom which needs to accomodate a king size bed, a big wardrobe & my son's study table & a place for puja.

rinqreation I'm european, so we have metric, but I did think "Wow, that's really small! 9 inch!" I assume you meant feet when you typed ". :)

rinqreation Draw the basic furniture (bed, table, etc.) in scale on graph paper, cut them out. Draw a plan of the house in scale on graph paper. And start moving around the furniture in it. Where you need to walk through the house add 1 meter and where you just have to move around (next to the bed for example) add about 0,6meter.

rinqreation Is there just one bedroom in the house?
How high are the ceilings?
How wide is your kingsize bed?
And what is puja?

rinqreation I don't know where the doors and windows are, but I made a simple floorplan for you to show the scale. The bed is 180x200cm, the closet is 180x60 and the small table about 100x55cm.

Anamika Chaudhuri Puja means a place for prayer where we keep the idols of Gods & Godesses... I am an Indian...

Anamika Chaudhuri I am posting some photos roughly taken underneath... The 1st 2 are that of the living room & the next 2 are that of the bed room. Hope those will give you some ideas.

rinqreation That was a hard nut to crack!
I've tried many options and this one had the most space. Downside is the bed has to go along the wall. There can be plenty of cabinets in there, but not a large dresser.
It would be ideal if your bed could be raised, so you can have drawers/low cabinets underneath it for storage.

rinqreation Another option would be the bed against the wall with the dresser against the head, next to the door. This way you'll have a full wall to make a study and some shelves for your idols.

rinqreation Maybe this type of bed fits in your room? You can place a desk or cabinets underneath.
