Is this mirror too busy for this living room?
I bought this mirror, but now I feel it is a bit busy for the living room...What do you think? Thank you

olldbobbi I think the mirror is fine, but I would find a new home for the screen and clock, I believe they are making the room look cluttered. Also, you might want to update your window treatments with simple panels.

Diana Stevens I think the mirror is fine but the clock and tri-fold divider are too much. I would rather see a table with a lamp in that corner.

Susan Bird I think the mirror looks good, but take out the screen and clock.

Noorlena Thank you all...what kind/style of table do you recommend?

olldbobbi Table? As in coffee table? Or to replace the small white table?

To replace the small white table, a silver martini table to complement the mirror would be much better: [houzz=Martini Side Table]
For the coffee table, try this one: [houzz=Noguchi Table]

Noorlena I took out the clock and kept the screen just till I figure out what to do with it...better?

Robyn Harvey Wrong style of mirror. Get rid of the clock and screen

Noorlena @overstockArt.com, which table you mean? And what choice of mirror do you suggest I get?

Noorlena BTW I'm pretty much into eclectic style, global also maybe...hope that helps

Noorlena I liked the Andrew Martin stacked books wallpaper but thought it would be hard to pull it off, thus found this screen and thought Oh that's a small version of the wallpaper I guess!

Noorlena @overstockArt.com oh pardon, I thought you were suggesting a different mirror, I miss read your comment...thus, you r suggesting replacing the screen with a different one or shall I forget about placing a screen in this corner?

Gabberts Design Studio I agree with the previous posters...the mirror is great, but it comes across as too busy, because of the other items in the room. The styles are clashing. I would decide which style is more you, and eliminate either the mirror, or the screen/clock. They aren't working together.

Noorlena And...

Noorlena @Gabbets design studio, what would you suggest in that corner instead of the screen? A chest of drawers maybe? Or a plane screen?

abc255344966 It looks like you want to go transitional ,if so the draperies are throwing off that look. I would remove the screen and clock. You have way to many items in the room.IE tables of the wrong size, need larger tables and lamps. Less accessories, to make a cleaner look.

abc255344966 Sorry cocktail table is the right size.

Noorlena There isn't enough space for a bigger table actually that's why I had to get these, and thus couldn't get bigger table lamps to place on them

Noorlena @olldbobbi, I mean a table to replace the screen with...console, chest of drawers or maybe a round large table?

abc255344966 If you can not fit 2 tables in then make it one with an larger size lamp. If you need more lighting add a floor lamp.

Valvorie Dunn Considering your other furnishings, the mirror is too modern. You do need to edit some but the mirror doesn't work unless you want to go in a complete different direction.

decoenthusiaste The mirror is too modern for the room, the curtains too old-fashioned, the screen too busy and the clock is not a decor item in my book. Sorry to be so harsh, but I don't appear to be alone in this. Why don't you remove all of it, and let's get your room arranged first, then accessorize? Clear out all that can be removed, including curtains, photo it again (plus all four walls and the other furniture) and post right here again with a comment and attach your new images. We'll all help!

Noorlena Thank you all! My style is eclectic and maybe global in a way

AMN I agree with everyone who has said that you need to decide which style you prefer. The rest of the room makes the mirror seem out-of-place. It's way too contemporary for the other items. And, since it is the odd-man-out in this case, I think you should find something different. Look for something that is classic, like a large, wood-framed, oval mirror hung horizontally or something.

It's hard because you have contemporary style couches but very traditional, world-traveler style accessories.

Noorlena Here is the room without the screen

grahamchic Much better already without the screen.

Noorlena How about this for now? Till I figure out what side tables would be nicer for the room! And any ideas to make the AC a bit less visible?

grahamchic Much better...but is there a reason you want the screen there? I think it would be much more open without it. I actually like the tables...I would think about more modern lamps or lamp shades to compliment the mirror..

Noorlena Thank you for the nice ideas. I can remove the screen, and I like the idea of modern lamps on the tables.
