Need to know the REAL distance needed between kitchen island and kitchen itelf
What is the real distance needed between the kitchen island and the kitchen ? I am not putting a hob on the island and I have been told that 1.2 m are needed between the kitchen and the island.

rinqreation The minimum is a sum of a moving person and an opened door.
If you need to walk through the kitchen 1.2m is the least space you need.
If the island has no doors and the space between is not a walkway, 1m will do.
Otherwise get a block on wheels.

Interiors International, Inc. 42 inches is the minimum you can comfortably get by with in a kitchen that will have 2 people working in it. 36 inches is the smallest I've seen and that was uncomfortable for me. I am considered to be thin if your bigger than that I feel it would be even more uncomfortable.

Ironwood Builders Jayme, 36" is US code minimum for any hall or passageway...which includes the kitchen between counters. 1M is slightly more.
