Help me decorate my new bedroom :)
I just got all new bedroom furniture with the help of my houzzers! Will you help me decorate it? Should I get another RL lamp like this for the other nightstand? Ideas for back wall? Art, paint etc? I plan on putting in a chandelier as well thoughts or ideas? I have attached the rug I have ordered for the room that won't be here until May :(

What are the black boxes near the ceiling, are they speakers? I think it would be great if you could find a way to hide or disguise them. A beautiful print for above the bed, and you are stylin'!
I think they're rolls of wool roving, but they almost look like sea sponges. Anyway, I think a grouping of something natural on the wall would be unique and interesting.
@picabelle It was a custom made bed I scored off of craigslist from a designer who didn't end up using it on a job. I've found some great furniture on there from home stagers and designers!
@ollidbobbi Thank you! Yes the speakers are my husbands "lovely" addition to the room. He gets his surround sound and mounted flatscreen and I get my furniture it's a win win.
Thoughts on wallpaper ideas? And what do we think of this chandy? (I live in earthquake country too btw)

@collettec I love that website and that wallpaper thanks for the link!
@nanlu you said turquoise and I immediately thought of this throw I had downstairs. What do you think?
@kit2650 zgallerie one of my favorite stores :)
@nanlu yeah I am a visual person too I think I may go with the 14" as we have a smaller condo but we do have high ceilings so I wasn't sure. I'll have to check out Quoizel! This chandelier is from zgallerie.
@kaylene Johnson I plan on putting in a chandelier and have been looking into wall paper as well :)
You have a nice back drop - but your table lamps are too clear, they need some weight to them - make them a focal point - bring in more hits of gold as well from your night stands.
Make the table lamps - or wall mounted wall sconce lamps substantial - bringing in more of your mercury silver and antique gold - looks gorgeoous with your paint colour and neutral bedding.
If you are acrafts person You can crochet a throw using chenille in vibrant shades, michael stores have them, inspiration, books and material as well as books.
I am a crafts person so I love something personal, makes it worth while
@melina21 It's Dkny in "willow white" from bed bath and beyond. Sign up with your email and get 20% off coupons and you save a ton! Here's the link I highly recommend it! http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=122234
@shobna I am very crafty! I just wish I had the time and energy (I have a 14 month old) :0
@christinemccole THANK YOU!!! this is why I post on houzz! We get to learn from each others mistakes! I am now painting on a poster board as we speak. The color is close to that it's Ben Moore "Abalone"
I like the contrast that your current wall color provides, but perhaps a little lighter so it's more subtle. I think the swatch you painted would work if it were just a smidge darker.
If you can add a dash of black or charcoal, go for it. It can be just a peek, but will give the room some bottom.
Again, nice choices.
you need a bench at the foot of the bed.. how about a bookcase or console or dresser under the tv? you will need full length curtains (higher than the windows)..
think it's fine without a color pop, unless you fall in love with an art piece or wallpaper with color. As a fellow earthquaker I won't put anything above my bed but a canvas art in case it falls on us.

Large scale artwork above the bed with some warm color would be a focal point.
An architectural decorative element (Ms Jacobs suggested branch vase) would be visually dynamic while still organic. Linen or slub drapery or roman shade to maximize light. Enjoyed the discussion.
I was just flicking back up through the posts and saw there was already a pic of the mirrors there. I would go more ornate and higher on the wall.
I've looked through all of the posts. I've noticed much attention given to the wall behind the bed. I get it, but remember when you lie in it, you will be looking at a tv with components on top of it and some shutters. Don't deprive yourself of the whole bedroom experience. You are design savvy, so I suspect you are just working on that wall for now.
While I like the 1st wallpaper best, I feel if you add yet another shiny finish the room will fall flat. Consider putting a wall of fabric behind the bed (see below). It will hide the speakers too.
Love the chandy you bought yesterday. Put a silver stencil around it on the ceiling. You'll love waking up to that.
You need a dark nubby throw at the foot of the bed.
Also a cabinet under the tv.... Maybe just a bookshelf because I'm sensing there isn't much floor space left. Anything to get the components off the top of the TV.
Last, a floor vase with something textural and tall that extends up in front of the right side of the shutters. (You didn't want panels, right?)
LOVE monochromatic. Stick to your guns there. You can always add a vase of colored flowers if you are in the mood for a little pop.
Nice job! Like the room so far.
We drilled into our wall behind the TV and snaked the wires through to another hole to come out behind the components. Just a thought to hide the wires once you decide what you will do on that wall.
Regarding curtain panels... It would look nice to hang them beyond where the window ends on both sides and then they won't get in the way of the shutters. Do you leave them open often? Or just use the louvres most?
on drapery panels for even just a valance and coordinate with some pattern on your toss cushions.
@hockey456 we actually do have a shelf above the tv but yes I agree and still hate the wires etc. Maybe we can drill a couple extra holes...great suggestion and yes the hubby likes it mounted. If I don't bother his enormous mounted tvs and speakers he doesn't question my designs.
@Nanalea
@jan74 Thank you!!! Less is more to me too. I'm not totally boring though I do plan on putting up something and love the silhouette idea! Get my chancy tomorrow yeeeeeee!!!

for dynamic and modern, i want give you somenthing that can be your inspired...i've learned combing, ragging technique for painting wall...
I'd take down the shutters, wrap them up, & store them in the attic. Then dress the window. The shutters are too hard for your design aesthetic, I think.
also, Chelsea Pillow in Lilac

but keeping your wall paper in mind, i would suggest you to consider something like a single-motif bearing pillow, or playing with interesting fabric only..
u cud add a round shaped cushion too to add variety.. what you're looking into is full patterned..

If you are good with sewing and stuff, you could try to imitate this bedding style
@Debbie Thank you the peacock color throw is from Zgallerie and called the "lazo" but they no longer make the peacock color but have other colors.

If all fails you can look into DIY mercury lamp tutorials on pinterest.com..
I saw where you decided against the wall paper since you will be moving, but if you wanted a bit of the feel and look of that paper without the permanancy, buy some blank canvasses and paper those, then hang your "artwork" and voila, you get the look and also get to take them with you when you leave. On everything else, I will say "job well done", it looks lovely.
@Chelsea Pineda Interiors I think that is thee most wonderful idea to frame the paper!
Fine art/ frame art from decor_candy@vip.163.com
regarding 2 or 3 panels: i think you could achieve a nice result with framing on the two far sides only of your headboard wall.. like this pic, with columnar effect atop the side tables minus mirror.

Karla Trincanello, NJ CID, ASID Allied 1 Karla Trincanello, NJ CID, ASID Allied 2 the designer has even described how she did it..
but yes, it all depends on manual efficiency.. which is the design variable here..
Am quoting the designer's top paint treatment:
"Benjamin Moore makes a wonderful pearl paint finish which was used over a decoratively painted strie. Inquire about it at your paint store. The base color was a combination of a yellow dry brushed over white so it was not a solid color." "She started with Benjamin Moore # 198 Cornsilk for the base treatment. Benjamin Moore has a great group of opaque pearl treatments that go over paint color which did the effect you see with the stripe and diagonal walls that seem to glow. The painter use B. Moore opaque Pearl paint (not sure which but they are opague and the paint store can help make a selection. We used it as a strie treatment over the base color. Then the pearl paint again to create the stripes and diagonal pattern over the paint treatment. She did the stripes and diagonal wall freehand by marking the walls lightly with pencil to follow the lines. Good luck, it is a lot of work but oh so "
