How to make use of extra bathroom space
Renovating master bathroom. Adding large shower where soaker tub used to be. Adding two single vanities where one 60" single used to be. The space where the shower used to be is too deep for a linen closet. How would you make use of this space for storage since I'm not going to have drawers or cupboards on new vanities. Keep in mind cannot move toilet there, floor is heated set in concrete so all original plumbing has to stay put. The space is where the garbage bag is. Help!

RHS - Services Hi Jenny, it is difficult to see the entire space layout and there is a pipe coming from the floor in that area, nevertheless here are some ideas for thought, a free standing medicine cabinet from restoration hardware is always useful to house your makeup and toiletries or a bench seat with a piece of art work above it would be an unusual surprise in that space but nice if you need that space to just sit and while. Just a few ideas for thought - Maria - RHS

Mega Builders Why use the entire space? You could use an apparently needed storage in the form of a linen closet - only to the needed depth. Having some more 'breathing' room will not 'take away' from the look and feel of your new bathroom. On the contrary - it will help and be appreciated.
Other solutions (if you feel you must use every square inch) would depend on the layout. What is in front of these 2x4s? What's behind the walls (where new drywall is showing)?
For example, if a hallway or another room, you could built another linen accessible through the adjacent room. If a shower is abutting these 2x4s you can add a large, decorative niche there (see attached image) and have the linen closet accessible from the perpendicular side (again, providing the floor plan can accommodate that solution).
Good luck!

The Rustic Gallery It's hard to see where this is in relation to the rest of the bathroom but you could maybe put a piece of furniture there like a bench, floating storage cubbies or even a nice piece of furniture like an armoire or a tall cabinet. Good luck!

Riddle Construction and Design There are a couple of options for the space. Just because its deep does not mean it cannot be a linen closet or tall cabinet. You would simply have to fir out the wall behind to make a shallower depth ( I suggest 24" if it s a linen cabinet, slightly deeper for a linen closet). You will loose some of the space behind but that can't be helped. Another option depending on the width of the space is you could put in a seated make up vanity with mirrors on all 3 sides of enclosure. This could be quite cute but the area would need to be at least 36" wide so the person sitting did not feel like they were in a hole. Or assuming the framed wall to the right is the new shower, expand the shower to the exterior wall and add a shower seat to consume some of the space.

Linda Unless you have loads of storage space in your home, an extra deep linen closet isn't a bad idea. You don't have to put regularly used items all the way to the back of the shelves. Put in a divider part way back and put a large open basket in the back. Use the baskets for rarely used items like extra bedding or beach towels.

Or, use a very solid door on sturdy hinges and install a full length shallow shelving unit on the interior of the door and leave the front 8 inches of the closet unused so there's room for the door to close and the closet shelves are a more normal depth

Do you have enough width to build in a storage tower on one side and frame a full length mirror in the recess?

jennyb4 So the first picture is from door way. You can see the space where shower was far corner. The second photo is the old tub where the new shower will be. Toilet in front on right. The thought did occur to me to make the new linen closet shallower by building up the wall (it's the exterior wall on other side of new drywall). Already have a niche planned in shower and already have a bench under the glass block in the new shower. I also thought of the make up table, mirrors all around great idea. So that being said I really only need the linen closet space for toiletries and towels. Making the tower of shelves + a full length mirror great idea. Keep the ideas coming!

jennyb4 I was thinking of putting two of these vanities rather than a full 70" double. Two separate mirrors and maybe space between them for a free standing towel rack? Spend more on the taps? Thoughts?

jennyb4 If have to get out a measuring tape but here's a closer photo of the space.
