DIAspoton yes. the granite is so wonderfully rich, i hope you'll paint the walls a deep shade to honor it. do your homework to be sure to light it to best show it's depth and colors.
Cheryl Hannebauer Very nice~we are in the middle of redesigning the plans for our new house; having last built 22 years ago I am looking forward to all the choices that are out there now along with some help here, when needed :)
feeny I agree with Laura. With that beautiful, but very busy, granite pattern, you should choose a very simple backsplash. Taking a light, creamy background color from the granite and using either a ceramic or glass subway (or other shape) tile in that color would look great. Multicolored glass mosaics, IMO, would be much too busy for that granite. And I do, BTW, think it looks great with your cherry cabinetry.
mariposabelle I agree with Laura, too. Keep it simple so it doesn't take away from the impact of the beautiful granite. We just installed an amazing quartzite countertop, Cortecchia, which has muted colors but a very strong "grain". After looking at lots of backsplash options, we chose a simple pale blue glass subway tile that picks up a color in the stone.
MsMaryMac I like the granite and color of your cabs, but just NOT together. The granite looks very mocha-ish. Do you like movement in your granite? This granite seems to have different layers of variation that looks choppy. Some beautiful granites that I have seen during my many excursions: juparana persa, yellow river, delicacutus, white spring, typhoon bordeaux. I finally made my decision after falling in love with one but it didn't come in my length. So chose something else that won't require a seam and total different look. I absolutely love it and it's be installed tomorrow!!
azanhem Ms marymac .Thank you for the tip on chocolate bourdeaux.can ypu see the picture of the other granite white condor i posted. What do you think of that.
Marie Hebson's interiorsBYDESIGN Inc. YES ITS GORGEOUS - do you see how subtly the veining that has the cherry colour will pick up on your cabinetry. DO NOT pay attention to those who can't see that this is perfect.
Yes it would be gorgeous with your cherry cabinetry - be careful what you choose for a backsplash now, this granite needs to be the star of the show - go a simple subway tile - in a bone colour for that classic touch.
3144123456 Such a beautiful combination, I love the granite with the cherry cabinet. Classic together! Good job! I agree with the simple subway tile in bone color. Will allow the granite to shine!
MsMaryMac I don't confess to be an interior designer; I'll leave that to the specialist! However, my very eagle eye and analytic side of me sees that granite as choppy. You have to remember you are looking at the whole piece of slab. Once it is fabricated, its sliced and diced, and that whole slab is now cut up in different sections. I see that color tone going more with white or creme cabinets. I also showed your photo to my DH and he didn't like it neither. Surprisingly he took the time to even bother looking! LOL What other granite names did you have in mind?
JUL313 Gallery The granite is perfect, don't second guess it for a minute. I agree with everyone about keeping it simple with subway tiles or glass tiles. Don't put anything up there that will "compete" with the granite. The pattern is gorgeous and its unique "texture" is absolutely beautiful and will be stunning.
