tmorrow600 The wall is baby blue and white wainscot. On the other side of the window is the family room addition that was added on recently.

Kelly I would take down the wainscoting. If it's a half bath a pedestal sick would be very cool and make the bath feel larger. The best way to make it cool is wallpaper. It will add the wow factor more so than paint. It doesn't have to be anything too bold if that makes you nervous. Even a textured wallpaper like grass cloth would do it.Some cool sconces over the sink with an oval mirror.

Then I would suggest framing the large mirror over the vanity. Give the room a theme! You could do movie posters, go Hollywood glam: [houzz=Marilyn Movie Poster]

decoratingmom You could go with a wall-mount sink to really open up the space. There are some very beautiful styles on the market these days. They also come in corner versions. You would gain the space taken up by the pedestal. You could also use a wall-mount faucet too. Love kklinton's advice on the dramatic wallpaper! However, if you don't like the idea of wallpapering you can achieve the same effect with a stencil. Stencilling is very easy as there are an abundance of patterns and sizes available for purchase. With the wall-mount sink you would also have plenty of space beside the vanity for storage options, such as tall, narrow shelving, armoire or custom cabinetry.

Disagree with olldbobbi about Hollywood posters because I think the space is too small for something that loud.

decoenthusiaste Since the window now faces another space, I'd remove it and the wainscot, putting up new drywall. The style of the rest of your home should be considered. The 1/2 or powder needs to fit in but can still be a designer WOW! Search tiny powder room in the box above under photos to see ideas like those attached. Although they look good, remember pedestal or open bottom counter sinks often have exposed plumbing beneath, so that might be a consideration - see the pics just above for examples of exposed plumbing.

3. For Medicine cabinet, build your own with a custom frame, have your carpenter build custom storage unit with shevles, behind. Go to any frame store, get a custom frame. He, your carpenter or contractor will put a piano hinge on it, you have a custom mirror.

4. I agree, wainscotting should go. and pedestal will open up the space.

5. Window: go with Smith and Noble sheets, roman or woven, to conceal the window for privacy.

tmorrow600 Hi Arlene! I'm looking in my Smith+Noble fall 2012 catalog. Do you have a pg number or suggestion for which type of shade? I have not ever ordered from them . I would like to order a few other items because their fabric selection is exactly what I like. What is their turnaround time, etc..?
