Will it work to add bookcases?

Still working on this space. It has improved but isn't quite there. Functionally we could really use a wall of bookcases. This one is an old one acting as a demo. I'd like to be new (maybe Ikea). I have to pull the sofa out so it makes the space smaller but still access to TV and fireplace. If yes to the bookcases, what colour? Black, white, grey? Thank you for your help!
