To glaze or not to glaze off white cabinets
Can't make up my mind . Some say that they will look dirty if glazed in the crevices. Others say without glaze they will not look as good

Rockin' Fine Finish It's more about aesthetics what you like glazing gives cabinets an antique look depth it's about personal preference do you like a clean look or more character ?

feeny There's been a lot of talk lately about glazes going out of style, so if you are ambivalent anyway, I would recommend not glazing as it feels like the tail end of a trend.

DIAspoton go with what you like. i disagree about glazed looking dirty. they won't if they're done right. glazed look more traditional than contemporary. an unglazed shaker style is very versatile.

janishill Which way do you prefer?

That is what you should do! You are the one living with them day in and day out. Regardless of what other people think, do what you like best. :-)

R J Hoppe Inc Besides all that is already mentioned and coming from a custom cabinet point of view one can also go two tone and two sheen on the same door.

My advise, don't drive yourself insane. Every look can and has been done successfully, if done correctly. As others have said, do what you like. The success of your kitchen won't come from weather or not your doors are glazed or not but what the overall visual effect those doors have on the entire kitchen as a whole. Houzz is a marvelous visual resource for you to pick a look that best suits you as well as the house you live in. Hope that helps.

libradesigneye I think it depends on your cabinet style combined with your personal style - how you are headed. If I had a traditional kitchen with traditional door style, I would glaze. I think it brings out the detail and makes them look expensive. This testimonial for glazing comes from one with a plain shaker unglazed kitchen.
