Transition from original pier & beam with wood floors into slab addition
My 1956 ranch has a addition on a slab, so there are 2 steps down from the original part of the house which has the original wood. I don't know what to do on the stairs to transition. The addition has carpet now, but I want stained concrete, wood or tile. Not sure how to do wood, since it would not match the original...

Deborah Butler, Brickwood Builders Is the original wood prefinished or is it site finished. If you put wood in the addition you can have it finished to match the original - it takes some time and you want to work with someone that is very good and patient about matching. It costs more but can be done.
