Old VW door- great color! but what to do?!
We've got two of these old VW doors, and they've been sitting on the floor for quite a while. People often comment on them, but we've obviously never had a buyer! I think it may be because people don't know how to use them. What are your ideas?

Thanks in advance!

HELIUS Lighting Group It like to make a bed out of them. What are you asking for them?

lessismoore I would simply hang it as "art." I know there is a big empty wall out there craving some green. I've seen some beautiful distressed remnants (?) from body shops hung as abstract art sculpture. This is less abstract, but why not?

Suzanne Tetrault Check out what we did with this old oven -

It would be possible to do something like that. You could take the glass out, add a recessed shelf behind in the shape of the window, and store liquor in it.

Suzanne - thought I'd post the oven shot :-) Love the paintings in that project too.

Marie Hebson's interiorsBYDESIGN Inc. I'd hang them in a loft space on a white brick wall for artwork - very cool -
or you could incorporate them as part of a rail system or even ends of a sofa!

DIRECTBUY OF FORT WORTH you could always add a mirror in the window opening and some hooks on the door. Would make a great piece as you walk into a home to hang your coat from.

dianahb I'd use them as photography props. They'd be great.

lessismoore Or what about a killer door for a under the stairs type "nook" or kid's playroom under a loft bed?

Susan Mills Design Good way to hide the toilet from view, kind of cute too if you think about it;)

orangecamera Mount them to the front of a walk-up/drive-up ice cream store (or something like that), and serve food through the window. Take money at "door 1" and pick up your purchase at "door 2".

orangecamera Or.... wall art, with a mannequin arm sticking through the window, and holding a jar of Grey Poupon. ;)
