Need help choosing the right colours for my kitchen
Hi, we are wanting to put in a new kitchen but I'm strangling with the colour and material to choose.
We have brick walls and timber thru out the whole house, which is rather dark. I would like to lighten the kitchen up with either new timber cabinets with a light granite top or should I go with a light colour for cabinets?
Any ideas?

Lightmotifs You are so lucky to have the beautiful brick and timbers! Maybe more lighting is all you need.

bumbles12 Yes it was great when the kids were little, no dents in the walls lol. But now the cabinets are tired and the bench is too. The kitchen is quite old the house was built in 1980s I would just like to make it a bit more modern and lighter, but not break the bank.

Lightmotifs Have you priced granite? It can break the bank!

Granite Transformations I love the brick and natural wood elements in your kitchen. You could really lighten up your kitchen by installing antique white cabinetry.

Here is a picture I found in Houzz of similar cabinetry I'd recommend-

I think it would be a great look with your home. A lighter granite countertop would really work well with this cabinetry too. My recommendation would be our Terra Chiara- http://www.granitetransformations.com/southjersey/products/granite-countertops/colors/

The last thing I'd consider would be a nice farm sink. I've attached on I think would look great.

Good luck with your kitchen remodel!

Shoman interiors LLC. I would also suggest anitque white cabinets which is in style right now, also I would suggest you to paint white for the brick that gives modern look and brightens the room even more. Either you can put contrast lighting fixtures or Nickle chrome fixtures... For the counter top, you can either try Butcher block, or granite slab (if you find a good fabricator, they will find you some good deals on granite tops).

bumbles12 I have thought about some sort of white cabinetry too but could it look a little odd with the rest of the house, as the house is rustic?
My second thought was maybe oak cabinets with a light granite bench top, which would be the safer but maybe not so modern? I really don't like the look of painted bricks.
I have seen some very nice brick wall kitchens on Houzz but my kitchen seems to have more bricks then most and a lot of the kitchens in Houzz mix plaster in the room, which looks amazing but I can't do that.
I have found a great fabricator for the granite. I have also found that granite isn't much more expensive then Engineered Stone so I would rather go for the real thing.
