Small keeping room off the kitchen...hrlp!
Team,
I have been trying to decorate for over a year but just dont have the creativity needed to pull it together. The kitchen dinette set ilhas red chairs so Im thinking of tying th black, cream and red together. As you can see I bought one window panel and I was thinking about putting one curtain rod and hanging four panels. Please give me some sggestions on how to decorate this area...thanks in advance for all suggestions

Barnhart Gallery Not to worry, you're ahead of the game with a nice furniture arrangement for this bright nook. I'd follow your instincts. I think I'd nudge the TV stand a teeny to the left so that you can start your panels outside of that window, a bit higher than you're showing and all the way to the floor. And rather than bring red to this space much, maybe bring these creamy and dark tones over to the red?

Dytecture The darker drapery really helps to 'ground the room.

decoenthusiaste It means, instead of integrating red into the keeping room, take the cream and dark tones over to the dinette area. Your kitchen pic did not attach.

kli6155 OMG Thats amazing! I will definitely do this. You said bring the dark tones over to the red? Not exactly sure what that means. I attached another pic of the kitchen area which is right off this sitting area. Should I bring those panels all the way around?

kli6155 Maybe this is a better picture...

decoenthusiaste Looks like the rug has already done the job! Are you interested in upgrading to drum chandy and pendants? Red pillows on your sofa, could tie the two areas together.

kli6155 You know I had to google drum chandy and pendants? Lol. I think that lighting option would be hot. Where do I find something like that and should it go in the kitchen area or the sitting area?

decoenthusiaste You can use them in both places, matching but sized differently, or two different kinds. If you search the box above for drum chandelier or drum pendant, under products you'll see where to find. Also under photos you'll see them used in homes.

kli6155 Love the idea. I have been searching the website for photos. Ive also got to find longer curtains which is really hard. The pattern and color scheme I like is not available in a longer length...I will keep looking.

decoenthusiaste Country Curtains does have some longer length ones you might like. Longer ones are easier to find online.

Barnhart Gallery Nice kitchen, and I see that you're beginning to pick up the red through accessories on the counter. It's a powerful color, so small touches like that go a long way.

The one thing I notice for you to think about is the small rectangular rug under a round table in a rounded breakfast nook. I'd try that rug somewhere else and maybe skip a rug in the eating area while your child/ren are young, or at least find it in a larger, round size if it's easy to clean and maintain.

kli6155 Thats a very good point. You are so right. Its not easy to clean at all:) What type of window treatments would you suggest? Should I keep the same panel curtains or use something else to separate the two spaces?

Barnhart Gallery Using the same fabric would give the space continuity.

decoenthusiaste Rugs need to be 4' larger than dining tables. If you like the look check for indoor outdoor ones at homedecorators.com. They can be taken outside and hosed off!!! HD has a lot to choose from and quite good looking ones. You might find something for the living area there too. You can shop by style, material, color, designer, etc.
