Need ideas for 8'x13' office space
I've been racking my mind about how to build/design an drive space in the home we're moving into. There is currently an oversize living space that we are planning to section off to build the office are. One of the 13' walls faces the front of the house and there is a large 4' window right in the center of it. Our idea is to build a 6' double pocket door with decorative glass on the other 13' wall which opens up to what we plan on converting to a grand dining room. I'm having trouble coming up with the layout and type of furniture I should put in the office, particularly given the dimensions and the fact that the double pocket door will expose most of the office when it's open. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

ASVInteriors A plan would certainly help us to help you. If you can post one that would be great.

David McCaw The wall with the double pocket door I plan to build would extend from the first pillar between the foyer and living room and go directly across. I hope this is sufficient, as I don't have access to any type of design software.

Kelly Built-Ins I like how they did a built in to the left of the doorways in the pics and then extend the desk off of this. It would allow you to use the other half of the room for some seating. If you did this on the right side of the room the desk would almost be hidden when you look through the doors. Destined to be a Classic

David McCaw The built in looks nice, but I have 2 issues with it / questions:

1) what would occupy the space directly under the large window / in front of the double pocket doors

2) I'd like to have the desk setup on the opposite side of the room so I can see guests as they approach the house through the large front window. The problem with that is there is an additional small window on that wall that would prevent my ability to do a built in there

Kelly So the window on the left goes too low?

David McCaw I really like the second idea from Highmark builders. Just as an alternative, does anybody think there's enough room and the layout would fit for more of a traditional desk + seating area?
