Just put in new backsplash and need help choosing a paint color for the kitchen.
I usually have a blue and white kitchen and have never tired of that color scheme. I now have maple cabinets, dark granite counters and today put in a new backsplash. (Attached are photos) Please give me your opinion about what color would be nice on the walls. I'd like something great looking and a bit brave...or should it be subtle? Thanks!

PYRAMID DESIGN GROUP I think it looks nice the way it is, you could try to get a the painted walls to be a closer match to the blacksplash--or if you want bold you could go to a sunny yellow . You could even overlay it with black vinyl supergraphic decals.

Laura Thank you Pyramid Design Group. I have butter yellow in the adjacent rooms. Funny you'd suggest yellow..I've been admiring yellow in kitchens lately :)

Fini Design Love love the tile. Great job. Another color that is coming up hot right now is coral. These are brighter and fresher than we have seen before with more POP to them.

Abode I think it'd look great to choose a paint color a bit lighter, but similar to the backsplash tile (love it, by the way!). A soft, grayed down blue. If you have the space for it, you might paint one area with chalkboard paint - it'd look great with your dark counter and your backsplash! Fun too!

Darzy I think an antique white (color of the backsplash grout) would be best. Sometimes we overthink colors and the contrast of the white/blue tile and dark counter will be perfect. And, look great with the cabinets.

Laura Thank you everyone. I really appreciate the feedback.

I thought of antique white or a blue/grey... I was thinking it might be neutral so that I can be flexible with cushions on the bench that is there. I was wondering though if I used an antique white next to the maple cabinets if it would look good or not?

Then there are the colors like light periwinkle, light green, aqua.

Coral is a different idea I would have never thought of!

Darzy Coral is a neat and "bold" idea. I found blue wall "backsplash" and antique white walls in a search. For kicks, I searched maple cabinets and found many have antique white walls as well. If you want bolder, you can do a variation of orange accents with the blue backsplash and maple cabinets. I like your idea of a light green wall color. I'd stay away from the aqua next to your backsplash because if the color is not just right..it won't look right. you know what i mean. :)

Laura Thanks so much:) I am seriously considering antique white. Do you think a blueish grey would look good?

Abode If you stick with a grated down blue - take your tile sample with you to paint store - your room will look larger and more spacious, as your eye won't constantly stop with the various color changes. You have a lot of Maple cabinetry, and it doesn't appear that you have a great deal of wall space - unless you really want to accent a particular wall, I'd stick with subtle color and find a fun piece of art for a pop of contrasting color. Benjamin Moore makes beautiful, complex, subtle pigments, if you have a dealer near you.

Laura Thank you Adobe.

Laura I do think what is there is too dark and it's true that there isn't much area to paint.

Laura Also, some of my cabinet doors don't have any front (face?) on them. You can see in the bar area the glasses and I think I'm keeping the butter yellow paint there as it is too much to paint (big stairwell). Any suggestions for cabinet doors?

Abode Are you wanting to put doors on them now? If so, they either should match the rest of your cabinets, or have glass fronts. Butter yellow is a lovely color with the blue, so you can transition to the butter yellow in the adjoining rooms.

Donald-Haverty Design Group I'm with the antique white crowd!

Laura Yes, I would like to put some kind of glass I believe, The cabinet guy put doors on with no inserts. What is an economical good looking way to address this? Thanks everyone.

Donald-Haverty Design Group use fabric and tie your colours together.

Lynne Forrestal Paint a slightly lighter shade of blue to continue the flow of the backsplash since the wall space is small so it won't look as chopped up... then use your coral and yellows as your accents in the room,
