Please help me choose a color for my wall!
I would like to repaint one wall in color in this all off white colored bedroom, the bed is a pale beige grey velvet french sleigh bed, the wall to be colored in on the right (where it is now dark). I think blush or violet would be soothing, but perhaps you have bolder fresher ideas, please give me your advice! Thanx!

decoenthusiaste What else will go in this room for color cues? How about a rug from which to draw the wall color? What will be the bedding color. I think it is premature to decide now. It is easier to match paint to fabrics than to fin the right fabric to match a paint color.
aniluap2 I agree with decoenthusiaste. But if you ate looking for suggestions a slate blue would look good with your bed.
Patricia Vivian The bedding will be all white, with a beige or cream bedspread, and i can play around with cushions, either fushcia or turquoise.
Patricia Vivian Would a pale blush colored wall or lilac be soothing?
sunshine42 lilac would look nice. Is it a girls rooms. make sure you turn the head of the bed toward the accented wall.
hikathyg I would opt for a warmer purple-gray tone to help harmonize with the beige-gray of the bed. Choosing the right lilac could prove difficult and could read too "young". You could get into some rich purples and maybe some pops of another bold color with accessories.
aniluap2 I love a pale blush or lilac very feminine and soothing. I would be very interesting.
Soring Interiors I would turn the head of the bed onto the accent wall. Have a bolder lilac on this wall and a few shades lighter on the other walls. It would be nice to see the rest of the room and any furniture you might be using. Is this a master bedroom ?
lefty47 HI -- Restoration Hardware has a beautiful paint for a bedroom that would look real nice with your bed . The color is called " Dusk " it is a real pretty rich blue. You might like it !
Andrea Prasch I love your bed its gorgeous! Have a couple suggestions either a light blue or a light mauve/purple. Either would look beautiful.
Marie Hebson's interiorsBYDESIGN Inc. I would choose a paint colour that compliments both the gray, your hardwood floor and also tie into the scheme you intend on going with for toss cushions and/or artwork in the room - once I have those items chosen then I'd pick paint.
Darzy A little bolder? Several paint samples on the wall for a few days will probably be needed before your final wall color decision.

Patricia Vivian Thank you all! Out of sheer frustration i bought the color yesterday! Pale blush, maybe boring but calming! This is a photo of my daughters room, j love the color palette, the turquoise pillow is an accident but i love it!
Andrea Prasch Can't really see it too well in the picture but if you love it that's all that matters! If it's one thing I've learned with the home is don't rush things and never settle. Do your research and get samples and paint them on a wall or on a board and live with it for a couple days in every light. Post pics when the room is done I can't wait to see :)
JAMEITE Hand-painted Silk Wallpaper Co., LTD Purple is a good。Yes, I guess so.
sacapuntaslapioz It will be so much easier to give suggestions if your photos were not all crooked!
aniluap2 Patricia its hard to see the color since the photo is dark, but since the room seems to be on the dark side I think you made the right call going pale on the walls . I think blush is a great choice for a young girls room- fresh an feminine. Darker colors could look more masculine and weight the bed more. Personally I prefer soft colors in my bedroom since I find them more restful and I don't tire if them so quickly.
Marie Flanigan Interiors Sherwin Williams Sashay Sand SW 6051 is a great blush - not too pink!
Patricia Vivian The photos are at an angle on purpose! Thats how cool photography is :) and the blush is for me! I think i dont know exactly how to use this site still, my photos are getting mixed up maybe! I live in Lebanon and only use my phone with internet, anyway thank you all very much very helpful! Here is a "crooked" picture of the view here right now, totally off topic but fun maybe since were all in diff continents!
Patricia Vivian Here is a picture of the Sherwin Williams color you chose and the Dulux one i got! Should i mix a little darker color to the one i have to make it slighy stronger or bright is ok?
seppysills I'd Love to have this bed to go w my new magenta colored damask stencil wall ! This may be too busy for you but I really love the strong color and design. It depends on your feeling of brighter colors. Good luck!
aniluap2 I would leave the pale color since the walls will reflect of each other and it will appear slightly darker in the room. I would save the stronger colors for the linens and other accessories. The view is beautiful, so glad you sent it.
Interiores Hi...when you said french sleigh bed... I remembered a pink/lilac wall I saw in Paris in a fabulous bedroom. I think it would brighten the room and is a bit bolder of a color. Would look incredible with your bedding!
Patricia Vivian Yes beautiful thanx! Its a super dark room so def a pale pink/blush color, love that pink and all the other suggestions thank you everyone youre all very sweet!
Kate Swenson Heinz Patricia using old mirrors of dif shapes and sizes. Also silver trays, dishes, and candle sticks will reflect your colors and add brightness. How about a chandelier? Garage sales!!!! Ow I love the color you picked!
grandi144 How inspiring that someone from Lebanon can be "friends" with others from anywhere in the world over paint colors! Maybe we should fire all the politicians and just blog out the problems of the world...
Diane Bowen I would find a piece of artwork that SPEAKS to you, and pull a color from it.
jean_mckay A light sage green or all walls white white white and acessorize color in pics, rug, ornaments, pillows
8 weeks ago · ·
IBB Design Fine Furnishings Benjamin Moore has a gray called Dior Gray. It's one of my favorite grays. It's very rich with slight purple undertones. It's a very soothing and sophisticated color. I love using this color in master bedrooms. The purple undertones make it a beautiful companion to accent your room with lavender and other purple accessories.
Patricia Vivian Thank you all! I chose a veryyy pale blush but think i have to add something to it to make it a darker powdery color, i have a few days left to try!
aniluap2 It may be too large for this suggestion but farrow&ball an English line of paints has a very muted palette and there are 2 colors that might work well for you , calamine or pink ground. If they are not carried in lebanon you could order a color chart and match them. If not you may want to go with a darker blush and mix in a third white, half white and do on until you establish the color that you like. I have done that before to get the shade I want if it's not available sometimes I add in a pinch of black or brown go mute it.
Design Nexus Interiors/DNI Inc. The idea of the sage green by jean_mckay really floats my boat!! As well does the white, white, white!! I would also consider matching the bedframe colour for the walls, and then for your windows look at a silk or linen in the same colour, then go for your contrast of colour in lamp base, in vase, in art work, and of course in a rug/runner.
rod handler Get a twisted toile wallpaper. It will blend well with the style of the bed, but give a lighthearted-but-faux-trad look to the room. There are some in very vivid colors that will set off the bed well. Have fun with this!
It's a Beautiful World! Hi Patricia, for more color inspiration, please visit our Houzz page. Enjoy!... Raisa
8 weeks ago · ·
Robin James your window needs to be included in this color scheme. It along with the large bed take up too much of the wall. Can you move your bed to the wall where it's up against? I would stick to a nice grayish white wall, with accent long narrow drapes in a soft light linen that complements your bedding. That room is too dark for dark walls.

Patricia Vivian Omg i love love love the old fashioned wall paper! Who makes this please? Theyre gorgeous!!! Inside a closet is the coolest place for wallpaper too! Just love it! Im going to google all the other suggestions thank you all so much!
Patricia Vivian Omg we have Farrow and Ball in Beirut!!!!!!!! I remember now my cousin whos the BEST decorator here told me about that last summer, im gg tomorrow thank you soooo much its really gorgeous!!!! As for wallpaper i adore it but much easier to just paint one wall i think, especially since ive found it here! And about everything else, well im sort of living in limbo here, i might have to pick up and move anytime etc, so im trying to make everything new clean and nice but thats about it! For now anyway, just the basics, comfort, and a touch of luxury (as much as i can), thank you all so much!!! Btw im very new to this site, i dont know if i can visit anyones "profile", this is all done via my cell phone anyway as internets perfect on this and USELESS on a pc in this country, so im pretty limited! Thank you all so much kisses from sunny and HOT (30 degrees!) Beirut!!!!

kodenursula First off, love the bed! Try Quiet Moments, Benjamin Moore, so lovely....(and do all of the walls...)
Karen Bock_Losee Heck, it's just one wall. Pick a color, paint it and if you don't love it change it. My master bath has been painted so many times I think it's gotten smaller!

Patricia Vivian Well i got a color today, this tis gtti
7 weeks ago ·
Patricia Vivian I was saying this is ridiculous! I chose this color today, a muted matt pale powdery dusty mauve i think, finish done i have it painted tomorrow? Its only one wall anyway! Btw i think stripes are the nicest idea now, but too complicated here, so let me know please and ill let u guys know when its done (which should be tomorrow like now!)!
aniluap2 Looks beautiful. Did you go with farrow and ball
7 weeks ago ·
Patricia Vivian hello! this is the first time i open this on a pc i can see all of you! first of all thank you all very much, secondly its "Dulux" paint bc its close to my house, Farrow and Ball is complicatedly far in Beirut, which im technically going to today but still, dont think its worth the 3 hr suicidal trafficy drive inside to get there plus they close early and only seem to have 3 pale colors from what ive seen on the internet! so ill have it painted this color although vertical stripes would have been a good idea! really, one beige one blush one powder blue and so on, would have given a wallpapery feel, anyway lets go with this before i find no more painters available! thank you everyone!
aniluap2 I agree it is
To ably not worth the drive but you should order their color chart- its free- and you can have dulux match the colors for your future singing projects. Let us see how it all turns out.

carolstudios Love the bed, and I immediately thought yellow or turquoise to highlight the grey, white & beige. As a painter I like Benjamin Moore's Classic color palette & I'm not a rep for them! Good Luck!
Patricia Vivian Finally made it to Farrow and Ball! Please which color? Its only one wall and a dark room, quick and thanx you guys!
aniluap2 Go with the mauve to add some color. Will be boring all beige

Anne Gibney I like the first picture for wall paper. You can pull many accents from the colors. Loved your picture of the view, awesome to be living there.
decoenthusiaste Do a chair rail with the stripe from pic #2 underneath and the floral from pic #1 above it. Paint the ceiling the same as the background color of the two.
Patricia Vivian Hi! I had the bed custom made made here, i used french velvet fabric, etc, but i found a gorgeous site called sweetpea and willow, its english, they have beautiful funky french sleigh beds, and thank you for the compliments!
carolstudios OMG, you've lost me with those wallpaper samples & mauve color choice. I have'nt used the term "Mauve" in 10 years.....What decade are we in??? One wall maybe & only if you just cant picture anything else, but not the whole room, unless your house is a true Victorian I don't get it!! I'm scared to see where this room is going, and now I'm sucked in. Oyyyyy
6 weeks ago · ·
aniluap2 The wonderful thing about Houzz is that everyone is entitled to an opinion. This is a global site and caters to vernacular used outside the USA as well. The beauty of it all is that it makes us all less parochial .
Recreate and Decorate I would not wall paper the entire room. And I like the blue color best.
carolstudios I agree with aniluap2, I am always fascinated by what others see in a space. When all is complete, I hope it is the room they invisioned and enjoy! I'll keep watching for the big reveal & loving the input & progression! It's all good!

Patricia Vivian Thats so funny!!!! Its a simple apartment built during the civil war but with an amazing view :) u made me laugh thanx!!! Ok tacky to do it all absolutely right, ive really lost all sense of style living here!!! So... I paint one wall one color and think about wallpaper (since it takes months to order it anyway), which color out of these please?! Ive made a collage to make it easier, bed color is on the top left and the paint colors are all the others, advice pls!
Patricia Vivian Please look at the view its not all that bad here! But im laughing thanx! One would never guess i grew up in waspy Mtl ;)
aniluap2 I would go with the two bottom right colors. The dark on the accent wall and the lighter on th other 2. It is beautiful and Montreal isn't all that waspy it has a wonderful European/ French vibe. It is great to experience different cultures and I think whatever you do will look great against the above backdrop

Patricia Vivian Are all you guys from the States? Im English and grew up in Canada btw, i think living here has gotten to me!
aniluap2 I grew up in a British colony in the Caribbean and have lived in th USA since I was 17. I have lived in most regions in the States as well as a few years in Australia. It's all been wonderful.
studio10001 Middle of top and bottom rows for me. Also like the bottom left wall paper, as it has a more subtle interest, allowing you to make a more contemporary statement -or not- around it. Beautiful view!
erasistible I think coral or blush would be beautiful.
carolstudios Ok, I'm a Jersey Girl, but I grew up outside Philadelphia in the suburbs which is only just over the bridge between here, South Jersey (not to be confused with the area about an hour north of here where the show "Jersey Shore" is shot and filmed).....that's closer to NY and totally & completely different I swear (haha)!!! Your view is beautiful & I've never been to Canada only as far as Maine. Not liking anything with a brown undertone in your color choices, too muddy with the bed.
studio10001 Hope you'll show the results!
Patricia Vivian Those are gorgeous suggestions thank you all so much!
Patricia Vivian I dont know anything of those tv shows i dont watch tv except the news, I know New Jersey by NYC right? Anyway thank you all for your suggestions i better choose a paint color by Monday and be done with it, painting one wall will cost me $100 wallpaper $1600 plus 3 weeks waiting etccccc, i shud paint one wall and change it later maybe! Just unstable living here, rattling my nerves and cant think straight, its just one wall!!!
shelleyuk Eek, not sure what the conversion rate is but wallpaper is not worth paying a fortune for!

Over here in England wallpaper is still very popular and we do often wallpaper whole rooms but accent walls are very popular too. If the wallpaper is really pricey could you use a paint stencil?
aniluap2 If its temporary just paint!
Patricia Vivian I am going tomorrow to buy a paint color for that one fearure wall, please help me decide which color to get! Pale is nice but maybe babyish, darker is maybe just dull, help please!
studio10001 Still liking the calamine best, or whatever is middle right. Don't think pale equates babyish; reference above pics. for exs.
Patricia Vivian I swear this is the LAST attempt at procrastination, anyyy advice is welcome and come Wednesday itll all be done!
aniluap2 Patricia its only paint. If you were painting the whole room I would suggest the pale blush but if it's only one wall you want to make a statement so go with the darker pink. It is supposed to be a focal point. One wall is easy to do yourself, you really don't need a painter! If you don't like it, it's easy to paint over.
erasistible I agree with aniluap2. I also think the darker pink would be good if you are only doing one wall.
Patricia Vivian Calamine wins guys!!!!! GORGEOUS muted pale pink with a grey undertone, thank you all so much for all your input, boys room tv room and entrance next! Ill put a picture up Wednesday, no clue how to do it myself as u need plaster etc bc holes in the wall, let the guy do it! Thank you all so much!

Patricia Vivian Thank you so much everyone and a huge thank you to Aniluap2 if it werent for you i never would have found this Farrow and Ball make!!!! Love it very soothing, first instinct is always the best i guess!
Patricia Vivian One thing id like to add is that in Lebanon typically the bedrooms are tinyyy and at the back of the home with no view etc, so im trying to make the best out of that! Off to buy the tub of paint now, itll take me a few hours just to get there and back, its ok, oh and btw very difficult to find things here! Plus overpriced in a way that would be illegal in another country :P anyway im off have a gorgeous day everyone!
studio10001 Good luck, Vivian.
Patricia Vivian They didnt have Calamine!!!! The man reluctantly checked and even more reluctantly phoned the other shops to ask them omg, i got Middleton Pink maybe ill mix the tiny sample pot of Calamine with it, typical in this country see why its a miracle to ever get ANYTHING done!
hikathyg OK, I have to say it. Please don't take offense, because I'm not trying to be harsh, but you need to quit stressing out over this one wall. It's one wall, one paint color. If you hate it you can cover it pretty easily. You haven't chosen any sample that is outrageously hideous, so relax and pick the one you like most. Live with it for a week or two. The wall color that seems like an earth-shattering decision now will probably not be noticed much in a year. Trust me on this one because I have been known to do the same thing to myself (hate to admit that publicly!). Have faith that you will not screw up. :)
studio10001 Patricia, do you have any white on hand? That might give you some more flexability when mixing. So sorry you had trouble....but the good news is: you got paint!! And the wall will be refreshed, even if a little differently than you were thinking. Now you will have a good qualtiy customized color, and I bet it will look great. Deep breath and a paint stick, now.
Patricia Vivian Ugh i cant read the comments well its not opening up! But i know someone said im being ridiculous i know ur totally right!!! Ludicrous even, itll be painted by tomorrow its all good! Just living here i think, so stressful im trying to zone out or my brain freezes sometimes, guys im a forensic psychologist and, well nothing, its just escaping some realities i think, itll all be fine thanx for all ur input everyone!
hikathyg No, not calling you ridiculous! It sounds like you have a very stressful job and the decorating was supposed to be a way to detach and relax. It seemed like the wall color choice was taking on a life of its own and just adding more stress. This is supposed to be fun, right? Trust your instincts. The wall color only needs to please you, not everyone here. And color preference is a very personal thing.
aniluap2 Glad i could help.Frustrating to make the long trip for nada! As the saying goes in the US, " let the yellow pages do the walking" in other words call ahead. Did you know that most paint stores, including the big box stores, have equipment that can match any color. So you can take in your paper sample and they will match it, I do it all the time .

Patricia Vivian what is a stencil anyway? the painter is painting it now, so pale, very complicated btw! the dust here will take me forever to clean (sandpaper etc) theyre very thorough here it seems! ll post a picture of what Middleton Pink looks like once its finished so that you all know, seems like a chalky powdery very pale pastel, super nice maybe with tons of art on the wall etc but w a bare wall not quite decorative! fresh look anyway!
