Ed Julie, so exciting. Congrats. I'm not familiar with the powder coated technology and only learned of anodized colors from Apple products... would like to hear more about both windows from Houzz peeps. :)
Fenstermann LLC-Newport Beach Anodized is a different process than powder coating. I cannot say that one is better than the other, but powder coating gives you more choices. For instance we powder coat our windows, and can offer 1200 standard color choices.
Ironwood Builders Anodizing is different from powder coating in that the "color" of an anodized product is microscopic and, similar to plating, does not lie on the surface...it is the surface. It is not a coating, but a film of altered material. Powder coating is a baked on finish, thick, heavy and extremely durable. Aluminum is the most commonly anodized material...and unless there is a thermal break in the extrusions the windows are made from they won't pass muster. Powder coating gives more options for color as well...see David@fenstermann above!
julieellen Thank you... I like the look of anodized windows but was advised the frames are difficult to keep clean from marks and scratch easily ... However if you don't mark them, they will still look as good in 20 years.., problem is I don't know anyone who has them installed in their home... To see what that are really like... Anyone have them?
julieellen For those who are interested here are the 2 photos of existing home and then what we will end up with.... Except perhaps lighter colours with anodized windows...
I hope you got the answers you were looking for.
