Where should i put the fireplace??
I bought this 60 inch fireplace and me and my boyfriend both have different ideas on where to put it. I say to place it on the far left wall yet he says in the middle. It doesnt make sense to me to put it in the middle because the ceiling drops almost midway pf the all from 18 feet to about 10 in the condo we just bought. I need opinions and recommendations ASAP PLEASE.

nononanna Could it go higher on the wall? It seems too small to be at floor level

mmilos I like its current location in the middle, but think it needs to be raised up a couple feet to be more of a focal point. I would have cabinets built in along the wall to the height of the lower ceiling...incorporate the fireplace and TV in the cabinets.

nononanna Yes that's important - maybe the TV should go above the fireplace.

defneguven We want to mount both the tv and the fireplace higher up onto the wall. We were thinking to put the fireplace a bit higher than the baseboards then install a shelf a bit higher on top where we could put our dvd players and what not and the tv a bit higher than the shelf (we will be purchasing a bigger one). We also thought of putting black stone all over the wall up till the ceiling like this.

defneguven So with that concept in mind should that all be done on the far left side of the wall? I think it would be a bit of an eyesore if it was done in the middle because of the dropped ceiling to the right unless we do a built in unit. Opinions?

mmilos Don't mount the TV too high! I would mount the TV next to the fireplace, at eye level when sitting on the couch if possible. Wall looks plenty wide for both. Hide your components with a cabinet/console vs. an open shelf.

Jayme Hobbs I think the location is fine..agree with raising it up a bit..I think some floating shelving on that wall would look great. Pic shows floating shelves/t.v. on wall..u could put the FP a bit higher/mount t.v. and use some floating shelves to balance out the sides a bit..

nononanna I'm not sure you need to or will be able to worry about the ceiling that drops down. You still have tons of room on that wall.

Ed Curious about the decision process -- how did you decide to buy the fireplace (60" no less! :) without deciding on its location first? :)

Jayme Hobbs It's a pretty cool looking FP...think it can work out well with a few adjustments...

OSIRIUS DESIGNS Raise it where it is so it's level with seat cushions. Tv centred above I would not go bigger than the fireplace. If you have a shelf paint it same white as fireplace and do same with wall. As for the high wall get some ropes and colour them then let hang down with a light in the middle. Cheers

defneguven We are getting a long chandelier to hang from the 18 foot ceiling so it should work out just fine. Thanks for the suggestions!
