Master bath spa vanities: Can we get "the look' without all the dough?
Please help us come up with a design for our master bath vanity (to be built to our specs) to create an open, airy spa look. Clever efficient simple, cost effective design. :) The wall where the his / hers sinks and cabinets will be located is 12' 9". (builder is trying to get us to do a linen closet at one end - we are not sure. Can't visualize how that enhances the spa feel). Goal is uncluttered and streamlined, wall mounted could be an option and is very appealing to us, lighting underneath, open airy feel with efficient storage (but we have lots of storage in this new build so we don't need to go overboard on storage - just daily necessities for grooming). We don't want to give the appearance of having to use every square inch of space, to enhance the luxury feel. We have ruled out all the "dark" wall mounted vanities - too dark -- thanks for any ideas!!

eagledzines You have picked out some very nice vanities in your ideabook.

You could combine the styling of these first two that came from your ideabook. Instead of dark stain, use the light colored laminate and white stone. The others are great choices as well that seem to fit your criteria. Having a linen closet that matched the design of your vanity won't necessarily take away from the spa feeling. Spas have places to put dirty towels too. A pullout laundry basket is nice, especially one that has a laundry bag built in that you can just pick up and take to the washer.

Dytecture Cannot see clearing the size of this Ensuite space.

A Kitchen That Works LLC The general style/layout of the House in Wilton best depicts the style you have described. The builders suggestion for the linen cabinet is a good one but I think the wall cabinet does the job he/she is thinking of. I would suggest that the wall cabinet be a bit less deep so that the lights on either side of the mirror do not create shadows. You could also consider med cabs if you want more storage. Check out Robern or Electric Mirror for med cabs.

Interiors International, Inc. With the amount of space you have I understand a linen closet. I wouldn't do one though. I would want the storage but would incorporate it in with the vanities.

laurajazz Is this ikea wall mounted vanity too good to be true? I'm thinking custom top and low profile vessel sinks -- would it look cheap?

eagledzines I can't vouch for it's construction or durability but it looks great. I love the floating linens as well.

laurajazz Are these designs any good (had to create them with Microsoft paint, so they are primitive). All use ikea cabinets. Neolith countertop. 2 vessel sinks. Beautiful European. Style traps. The wall behind the sinks is nearly 12' by 6' so I got the idea to create a tile mosaic, maybe more muted than shown. Otherwise the bathroom is neutral, soothing, serene colors. Would like comments & critiques. Thanks.

laurajazz Here is the with and without mosaic tile. Where could I get custom designed affordable tile in central Ohio.

feeny Just my personal opinion, but I don't think a busy tile mosaic, custom or otherwise, fits the calm, minimalist "spa" feel you have described as your goal.

eagledzines I agree. It would have to be so muted it wouldn't be worth doing.
