Need help with my home painting color
I'm going to remove the carpet and the whole house will be dark hardwood floor. My sofa set is light dark green and my dinning room set is dark cherry wood. What color should I paint my whole house? I like the modern looks

Ed Have your browsed through Houzz using various filters ("modern") and search for key words ("dark hardwood floor", etc.) ? --

carolins As Ed already suggested, you may want to browse the Houzz site for photos that appeal to you. Often the paint colours used are stated next to the photos. If not, it will give you an idea of what you would like and you can select paint colours that match those photos and your furniture.
Always try a paint colour that you like in the room first. Paint it on a large piece of white board and hold it to all the walls that you'd like to paint. Look at it under different light (morning, afternoon, evening) and then decide.

Kelly Your room is pretty neutral...what colors are you drawn to? Maybe choose a piece of art work and use that for your palette.

leelee Your cherry dining table/chairs are definitely not modern. Are you planning to keep them? Please move the angel baby down about two feet. It's a very sweet picture (might look better in a bedroom) or framed to give it enough weight to balance the couch. Generally, art should be hung 8 to 10" over the sofa.

JP N Leelee, yes I planned to keep the dinning room set, should I make the dinning room traditional and living room modern? It is good to know the high to hang the picture art. :):). I do planned to rehang them after we paint the home.

carolins In fact, you can just mix the styles a bit. Your living room furniture isn't thát modern that it doesn't go with the more classic style dining room.

leelee Because of the dining room furniture I'd lean toward transitional, agree that your living room furniture isn't too modern, so accessorize with less modern and you'll be fine. I'd wait until you have the floors installed to pick a paint color. Some woods have definite undertones that wouldn't work well with some paint colors. The "cork" color above looks nice. One other thing you could do is recover your dining chairs. Usually, they can be knocked loose and a staple gun can affix new material. That ivory won't stay nice long if your friends and family are anything like mine!

It's a Beautiful World! Kelly has an excellent suggestions. You can bring in the artwork you enjoy and pick some colors from there. Or you can use oue galleries here for color inspiration. Enjoy!... Raisa

JP N Kelly these two colors catch my eyes Shaker Beige HC-45 by Benjamin Moore and sweet celadon CSP-785, but I agreed with leelee that I would wait until my floor install. Got a lot of ideas so far :):)
