My wife and I are looking for a local Interior Designer in our area to help with the interior design of our new home. We are tearing down our existing home and building a new 3500 Sq. ft. house in San Jose, CA.

Our new home will be one story with a French Country Style exterior elevation. Our desired design style for the interior is old world traditional with a contemporary flair. Think Old world meets new World.

Since there are so many designers listed on the site I thought I would reach out this way and have any local designers that specialize in the type of home/style we are looking at building respond so we can start a conversation.

Thank you in advance for your time and we look forward hearing from you.

TanCalGal I'm surprised there were no replies to this! Or maybe they've been emailing you?

Pangaea Interior Design, Portland, OR Hello -- my name is Pangaea and I am an interior designer in Portland, Oregon. I am also one of the regular featured Ideabook contributors here on Houzz. I almost didn't reply because you specify that you are looking for a designer in your local area -- but I have handled out of area clients before, so thought I would go ahead and respond. If you don't find someone to work with locally, I would love to be considered for your project. With the ease of sending photos via email, it is possible to work with a designer who does not actually live in your area. In fact, I am currently working with a client in New York City quite successfully. She found me through Houzz also.

I love mixing traditional with a contemporary flair! Your sense of style sounds very fun! Taking traditional styles and updating them with current fabrics and colors is just one way that I enjoy creating looks that are up to date, yet classic at the same time. If you look at my website, you will see mostly contemporary interiors, but I am currently working with a client who has a 100 year old home as well as another client who has a traditional style home where we are using a mix of contemporary along with objects collected in their world travels. If you are interested in taking the conversation further, just reply to this and I'll respond with my contact information.
Warm Regards,
Pangaea

Luis Santizo j222b - No e-mails - I was surprised as well. I'm not sure how the site works yet as I am new and perhaps I did not approach it correctly?

Pangaea - thank you for your post. I will take a look at your site and revert back with any questions.

Pangaea Interior Design, Portland, OR Wonderful! Glad I posted. Since my portfolio is so strongly contemporary, I took a few minutes and pulled together an ideabook for you of rooms that have French country elements I like and also rooms where French country has either been updated or blended with contemporary elements. I thought it would help you get a feel for my own taste in general. It would be interesting to know what you envision when you think of old world traditional with contemporary. Not sure if any of these photos approach your own vision.

Cecile Lozano Interiors Hello Santizo,
I'm an interior designer in San Francisco. A friend in Seattle sent me your posting from Houzz.com. I'm probably not the right designer for you, but just thought I would send an email anyway. My style is more Modern Vintage. I love clean lines with a interesting updated antique thrown in. But, mostly I'm emailing you to let you know there are so many great designers in the Bay Area. A lot of my clients find me on Yelp.com and some even from Houzz.com. Decorati.com has a whole section listing designers by location. Even just Google interior designers in San Jose and a lot should pop-up. I can only speak for myself but have never looked on Houzz.com for possible new projects. But, I will start to now.
Warm regards,
Cecile

Luis Santizo Hi All - thank you very much for your responses. At this point we are looking for someone who can help with an overall design style/color for the various portions of our new home (kitchen cabinets, counters, bathrooms, backsplashes, showers, ceiling treatments for the major rooms, etc. We don't need furnishing design elements at this point, its more the home itself. I will try to reach out to you directly to learn more about your approach and see if there is a good fit. Thanks!

Susan Mills Design What an interesting post this is. In today's global society, with the convenience of the Internet, and all the tools we can take along with us, it has really changed the way I for one do design. I have enjoyed the challenge of learning new skills and ways to do things. I started doing what we now call e-design some time ago when a friends daughter needed design advice and had no idea we would have a term for it now! I am even working on a home in China, through the son who is in Britain, the parents do not speak English and the son is doing his masters, quite a few challenges but with the ease of emails, attachments and translator and other tools we get the job done. I do not know how I previously managed before without my iPad, I can have plans, power points, photos, spreadsheets and any other tool open and in my bag to address anything needed for the job at hand. I see there is a few of us now doing e-design, would love to see a discussion here on Houzz for any advice or ideas on how to do this more effectively.

Interiors International, Inc. Hi Santizo, I am an Interior Designer that works all over the world also. You will find that a lot of the top designers do have projects away from their base office. I have satellite offices in may states. I run everything through my corporate office in Naples, FL. Our clients are the key to the success of our projects. We work to bring out the style in each of them. We look at our contribution to a project as that of an editor. We do not want to write your design story. Our job is to edit the story so it is concise and makes the proper impression. Your home is an outward expression of you personality. It tells a story about you that subconsciously your guest will see and feel. All of the projects the we do are completely original because they are the story of the client.
We would love to talk with you and your wife in depth about your new home. All my our contact information is on our site. idesignintl.com You can also find us on Houzz under Interior Designers Naples, FL. or in Minneapolis, MN. where we were voted "Best of Houzz 2013"
We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely, Johnathan Weiss CEO

Susan Mills Design sonaila, if you go up to the top of the page where it says look for pros in your area, you will be able to do a search. Once you pull up the listings, you can browse through their work and get a sense of what they do. You can also see what sort of assistance they give on Houzz, to see if your personalities will gel. Good luck and keep us posted as you go through the process.
