Hello, I'm a builder designing & constructing my retirement home in a modern style with embassy green & iceberg colored stucco with brick red metal siding. The windows are Serious Energy with dark bronze frames I've done a watercolor sketch of the home. Just wondering what suggestions or comments the Houzz crowd may have. Thanks, Kenji

Dytecture Hi Kenji, the watercolor drawing you have, is that with the embassy green and iceberg color stucco? Also where is the house located? looks like in South Western U.S. ?

masuda1 It's as close as I can get in watercolors. The embassy green is pretty close & the iceberg is actually a little more greyish/white
Location Northern Ca about an hour from Lake Tahoe, Thanks

TanCalGal House looks beautiful and colors seem nicely balanced. Here are other exterior modern homes, but I did not see any that was nicer than yours. Maybe you'll get ideas for landscaping, anyway http://www.houzz.com/modern-exterior

lefty47 Awsome house design ! I think you need stronger colors - maybe the colors you have are going to fade out too fast . The landscaping is going to make it sing . Use lots of ornamental grasses - they always look good with modern home designs . Would love to see a floor plan !

masuda1 Thanks for the suggestions, yes I agree with the ornamental grasses too!
I'll post some updated exterior & interior pic's later if you'd like.

masuda1 Here's another shot in progress, this time of the south facing elevation. I guess you can tell it's a passive solar hybrid design.

masuda1 And an update on the front. Acrylic stucco done, Metal siding up, roll up doors on.
Above garage reserved for the living roof :-)

houssaon It reminds me of a Peublo Cliff dwelling. Very interesting.

masuda1 houssaon,
Wow, good catch! A few of the primary inspirations for my design parameters was an admiration of Vienna's 1950's modern stylist R M Schindler and the 1200 A.D. passive solar attributes of the Mesa Verde Cliff Dwellings in Colorado, utlizing south facing living space for warmth in the winter & overhangs for sun protection during summer months. Along with modern/green building techniques and performing @ 62% better than T-24 requirements I guess it could be considered a hybrid build.
Thanks for the comments :-)
