We are looking to replace a large living room window on a complete remodel and having trouble deciding what options to go with. The window is 10ft long x 6 ft tall and currently has 3 awning windows at the bottom 1/3 and picture at the remainder of the top. The rest of the house we have remodeled with white vinyl double hung grid windows. I want to be able to open some of the window for air and not a fan of awning windows. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated? We have thought of 3 double hungs. Or one large picture window in the middle with 1 smaller double hung on each side but the contractor said the grids wouldn't match with this option.

Jamie Jay it would help for you to show what the rest of the house looks like.

runnergirln Ok but my house is sort of an eye sore right now compared to all the beautiful homes on here. The top windows have all been replaced. Currently going to replace the bottom long window and large front window (the one we are having so much trouble deciding on.) Since I have posted this picture I might ask if anyone has any suggestions on siding color because we are going to replace it soon and can't decide between a light tan/beige or a green sage color. The roof is brown shingled. The concrete front steps and front door are being replaced also.

ryfro I know this is an older thread but what did you decide? I have the exact same window and am curious of what to replace it with. How much did it cost to replace?

runnergirln We haven't replaced it yet, have been waiting till it warms up. We decided on going with a larger picture window in the middle, flanked by 2 smaller casement windows with grids on the sides and 3 (12 inch) long deadlights with grids on top that are the same width as the windows below it. 6 windows in all will go in that space. My husband wanted a plain picture window, I wanted grids so this was how we accomdated both. There is a glass manufacturer in the town we live in and an employee helped me design the window. It is going to cost about $3,000.
