Rich earthy colors with wood flooring make for a warm bedroom. Owner added the wrought iron window grilles that adds a little of an old world look. I always suggest painting ceilings a neutral light color to give a bigger feeling of space.

Placed on a large site with the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy at the rear boundary, this one story residence presents a modest, composed public façade to the street while opening to the rear yard with two wings surrounding a large loggia or “outdoor living room.” With its thick walls, overhangs, and ample cross ventilation, the project demonstrates the simple idea that a building should respond carefully to its environment.

David Joseph Katona Interior Design
DJK Interior Design created the interior architectural elements and luxury interiors in the Formal Living Room of this 11,000 square foot French Country estate. Reminiscent of a French Chateau, beamed ceiling details and a reproduction fireplace with over mantle radiate warmth and character, and hand finished faux plaster painted walls add to the sense of history and patina of this newly constructed home. Iron grillwork frames a view to the dining room. Furnishing details enhancing the reproduction French fireplace include a linen upholstered sofa with silk velvet pillows, a Bergere chair with antique French tapestry pillow and bolster, mohair velvet upholstered wing chair, aged black-laquered and gold-leaf detailed coffee table, reproduction commodes, gold-gilded lamps with rawhide shades, medallion stools, and a pair of fine antique carved mirrors.
