7 Haute Home Decor Ideas for Fashion Lovers
Indulge your fashion-forward design sense with these ideas for bringing couture out of the closet
Houzz Contributor. Hi There! I currently live in a 1920s cottage in Atlanta that I'll describe as "collected."
I got into design via Landscape Architecture, which I studied at the University of Virginia. I've been writing about design online for quite a few years over at Hatch: The Design Public Blog.

Do you have stacks of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar you can't quite part with? Do you hoard glamorous shopping bags from that big splurge? Do you leave new purchases out to admire for days? If you answered yes to any of these questions, it's time to bring your love of fashion to your home decor. It's easy to do, and unlike couture, a lot of these ideas will set you back only a few dollars. Happy browsing!
1. Display fashion photographs and sketches. One of the easiest ways to add some fashion to your home is with a favorite fashion photograph. You can cut them right out of your favorite glossies. W is a good source because it's larger than most magazines.

Fashion books and ads are another good source. Buy a monograph of a favorite design house's work, cut out your favorites and frame them identically to create a fashion art wall. If you're a shoe lover, check out books featuring Manolo Blahnik's charming drawings.

| Of course, if you're looking for something that's a step above DIY magazine art, there is plenty of high-fashion-related art out there to buy. This Chanel piece celebrates the iconic No. 5 in a much more sophisticated way than those weird new Brad Pitt commercials. |

| 2. Frame a scarf. If you're like me, you were born without the knowing-how-to-tie-a-scarf gene. Have your favorites framed and show them off as the art they are. Check out more ways to frame textiles |
Likewise, you may also decide to frame items like necklaces and bracelets in shadow boxes. Note the fun this designer has had with color and pattern on the background pieces. You can use paper or fabric.
3. Put your favorite pieces on display. Even if you dare to teeter around in those stilettos only once a year, you can enjoy them every day when you put them on a display shelf or in acrylic boxes. I use my favorite wicker bags as magazine holders around the house and hang favorite bags on doorknobs just so I can enjoy them all the time.

Closet designer Lisa Adams always advocates designing a closet like it's a boutique. If possible, keep your things artfully arranged rather than stashed in drawers.
4. Let your favorite fashion bags and boxes inspire your decor. It's very hard to throw out an Hermès box; use it as color inspiration.

Likewise, iconic Tiffany-box blue is extra glam in high gloss or lacquer.

5. Use a vintage trunk as a coffee table or side table, or at the foot of your bed. Vintage Louis Vuitton and Goyard steamer trunks are highly sought-after pieces. If you're lucky enough to have inherited one, leave it out somewhere where you can enjoy it.

Faith Towers Media I love the idea of using fashion fabrics in a room to give it a glamorous look. Layering textures and colors like that lends such dimension... and makes it feel so LUXE. Here are a couple more rooms that have that same feel: http://designfixation.blogspot.com/2012/03/glitter-glam.html

spacesprit I did this closet for the winner of a morning news show who won a new closet. The elfa was donated so I used that product to design the closet. I wanted to add a touch of whimsey and style to this project that had a minimal budget. The "Tiffany" color that I chose inspired the phrase that wraps the window. This was an easy way to create a interesting focal point in the space.
