September means that it's time to start some fall decorating (so I can pretend it's not 100 degrees outside). Candlesticks and candleholders are easy ways to get that cozy feeling of fall. I can't wait to deck the mantel with some flickering light. When do you start decorating for fall? — Elaina from Fun Finds for Mom
Of course there have to be paint-dipped candlesticks, considering how huge this trend has become. These are actually rubber-dipped and look pretty cool.

I'm loving metallic geometric shapes. These remind me of a table lamp I recently saw at Land of Nod.

This candleholder by Ferm Living lets you arrange the wood spheres in whatever shape you like: wavy, linear or circular.

I bet the candlelight looks beautiful flickering through the perforated designs on a dark night.
Mmmm, concrete. I love the simplicity of these pillars.

This is Anthropologie at its finest. No two of these candlesticks are alike, and each features a variety of unusual objects. They make me want to try a DIY version. (I just found someone who did with amazing results.)
Simple white candlesticks — what's not to love?
These are my favorite of all. Based on children's stacking blocks, they can be mixed and stacked to create different looks.
Something about this color and shape combination looks like a fresh take on the midcentury modern style.

| I had to show you the wood and white; it's just so fun. |
These silver orbs offer high style at an unbelievably low price.
I spotted this electric candlestick on Chez Larsson, so naturally I want it. Everything looks so good in her clean, clutter-free white home.
I love the wooden geometry in these candleholders.
Wow! I didn't realize candlesticks could be so sexy!

The designer of these Distortion candlesticks used computer imagery and 3-D printers in his creative process to come up with these strangely wonderful pieces. They remind me of Alice in Wonderland.

These chunky wood candleholders would look great on a big coffee table.
These super fancy candlesticks come in sets of two. I'd pick the white ones.
Add a little drama with a wall-mounted, metal candlestick that reflects the light. These are very well priced. I'm tempted.
These white candlesticks from West Elm are gorgeous. I have a can of white lacquer spray paint in my garage itching to spray up a bunch of Goodwill candlesticks to get the same effect.

kennedytarheel WOW! What a great assortment of ideas! I love the Anthropologie ones for their eclecticism, and, after reading the blog you linked to DIY, I'm inspired to start my hunt for tchotchkes to build my own. I'm also enamored with the distorted candlesticks...such a great idea to establish a "mood" for a meal! Thanks!

Elaina Verhoff Thanks Kennedy! I'm with you on the DIY candlestick. I could probably gather up the kids' old tiny toys and make some fun ones -- although it's always nice to seek out treasures at thrift stores too!

kennedytarheel It looks like the Anthropologie candlesticks have a rod that goes from bottom to top. That makes me wonder if their tchotchkes are "found" or made with holes to accommodate the individual pieces. A rod would definitely stabilize the pieces, but drilling holes in small porcelain or glass things would probably break them. I like your "old toys" idea too....maybe old wooden things through which i could drill a hole and then run a dowel. Thanks!

Elaina Verhoff So I did a little research and found that it is possible to drill through porcelain figurines -- but it's a pretty labor intensive process. Maybe that explains the price tag for the Anthro candlesticks!

bruinette My favorites are the black bones from Pottery Barn, especially with the black candles .. even if that does make me a bit creepy ;-) Strangely enough, I've got a very, very similar one that I've had for years and I never thought of putting a black candle with it .. d'oh! Guess what's on my shopping list now!

Elaina Verhoff Creepy is good this time of year! On a somewhat related note, a friend just told me her son was going through their Halloween decoration box last year and pulled out a rat and shouted "Hey Mom! This is the coolest rat decoration! Why didn't you tell me you got this?!" She looked up and screamed in horror, because it was a *real* dead, petrified roof rat that had died in the box in their attic. Can you imagine?!

artsycreator97 I also thought that the lantern looking candle holders could be DIYed with tin cans, a hammer and nails, and white spray paint but I'm just imagining here, I have never actually tried hammering through tin...
