Now that vintage goods, recycled furniture, antiques, and thrifting have officially come back in style, more and more vintage marketplaces are popping up online. Like all things on the internet, the benefit is easy accessibility — thanks to the abundance of online stores, the average consumer has access to products that he or she might never have otherwise. The result? Super stylish homes, higher quality of product, and a more educated consumer.
The downside of course is that the sheer amount of product on these stores (not to mention the sheer amount of stores that exist) can be pretty overwhelming. If you don't know where to go, or what exactly you're looking for, it's easy to get lost in the thousands of images of mid-century sconces.
To make life a little easier, here are seven great vintage furniture shopping sites. Ranging from traditional to mid-century, some of these sites are marketplaces, and some of them were initially store-based, but all of them have an impeccable collection of beautiful vintage product.

Three Potato Four — Three Potato Four was started by a darling couple, Janet Morales and Stu Eli. Graphic design fiends with a knack for collecting funky, vintage finds, they started Three Potato Four based on all the wacky items they loved collecting so much. The site later expanded into a storefront in Philadelphia, but they still curate an impression collection of unique vintage goods. The store mainly consists of a rustic, industrial, country-cottage chic style. Many of these antique items have been impressively restored and repaired, while others maintain their original wear and tear.

REHAB Vintage — REHAB Vintage Interiors has a limited, but incredibly unique and customized selection of product. The style of this shop is primarily industrial, as they specialize in vintage steel desks and retro office furniture. You'll see a lot of steel lockers, airplane propellers, and metal signage on this site. All of these items have been expertly refinished by the team at the Los Angeles shop, and can be easily purchased directly on their site.

Bluebell Bazaar on Etsy.com — Etsy has an unbelievable amount of vintage goods, but as any seasoned Etsy shopper knows, it can become overwhelming very quickly. I've found the best thing to do is to search for individual store recommendations and go from there. One of my favorite vintage shops is Bluebell Bazaar. I love the unique and industrial vintage accessories in this store — there's a less polished feel to these items that is really fun.

Other online resources that can serve up some great vintage finds are of course Craigslist, Ebay, Amazon, and 1stDibs. But like Etsy, these sites can become a bit overwhelming, so it helps to go into it knowing exactly what you want.

Kudzu in Decatur Georgia. One of my favorite stores, Victory Vintage, has downsized and has some excellent booths inside.
I also like the junkier places where I have to dig for a diamond in the rough. It's like a treasure hunt.

Also, Deconet is one of my favorite places to look; however, I've found that the shipping costs from Europe pretty much negate any purchases. It sometimes costs more to get it here than to buy it.

I found an antique chair at an estate sale. While stripping it to reupholster it, I noticed swirly steel springs still intact, thick burlap, stuffed thick with hay on the seat, & sheeps wool for the batting. I am not familiar with the period of this chair. The arm ends are like claws. I refinished it in dark walnut and redid the material. Any one out there no how old this style is?

I like 'The Butler and the Chef' in San Francisco.
Great French antiques with frequent new shipments.
They have small items right on up to a full bar suitable for a restaurant.

ColorMyWorld: was it stuffed with hay or was it perhaps horsehair? (which can sort of look like hay). I would guess 30's or 40's? (But I'm not an expert.

ColorMyWorld: or perhaps it was Spanish Moss? Great classic style!
For great vintage finds I encourage everyone to check out their local or regional Antique Malls, a great way to spend a day and you never know what you may find. We have a booth at the Fox River Antique Mall in Appleton, WI and our inventory is constantly changing.
