Most nurseries include a mobile hanging over the crib. Mobiles are great for babies because they give them something interesting to look at as they drift of to dreamland. While I was recently searching out a mobile for my newest addition, I came across these lovely designs that I would be more than happy to display in a more grown-up space. Have you ever considered hanging a mobile in other areas of your home? — Danyelle from Dandee Designs

suzanne803 I have always been intrigued with mobiles and the fluid motion of them. I live in a 1860's colonial home and the 10 1/2 foot ceilings provide the perfect space for them. My first mobile was purchased in 1969 in Switzerland and is made of copper, cut in shapes of tall sailing ships, with sea glass beads. It is near a window in my office, where the sun reflects through the beads, while the ships sail by. Since that first purchase so long ago, I have collected many more. I especially treasure the one's that are seasonal, like the metal witches that I hang from my breakfast room light fixture during October. Not only do they add a bit of fun, they also bring back fond memories of wonderful vacations where I purchased them.

Design Freedom, inc. i love mobiles. they are not just for kids! i used to go to the East Wing Gallery in DC on weekends just to "visit" Calder's mobiles hanging there. i have a large modern one over my kitchen sink in the pass through, and another pretty little one in the guest room. both were gifts!
