Guest Picks: Chalet-Style Home Accessories
Stoke the fire, mull some cider and get snuggly with these rustic-chic accessories for a modern lodge look
I am a designer living and working in New York City. I write Fourth Floor Walk Up as a means of expression to document inspiration, projects and the design evolution of my home. I am greatly influenced by the city around me and although New York is expensive and hard on the 99%, I believe that everyone can have a great refuge to come home to – some of us just have to work a little bit harder to attain it.
DECORATING
I grew up within a household centered around decorating with the interest being past down through several generations. My grandmother, mother and I have all had the ability to see spaces for what they are and what they could become. I tend to focus on smaller spaces with modest budgets because I believe a little bit of blood, sweat and tears can make a sweeter home.

With the natural accents of wood and influences from wildlife, modern lodge decor is equal parts chic and rustic. It channels traditional plaids and earthy tones through lots of accessories that provide warmth and romance for those long winter nights. I daydream about this time of year when I'm pushed to relax with my family by an open flame and snuggle up with loved ones.
Not everyone has the luxury of fireplaces or woodland retreats, but we can all appreciate the change in mood. So grab a throw, mull your cider and light a candle or two. — Lauren from Fourth Floor Walk Up

cwas Nancy, many decorative antlers are "shed", meaning the deer annually shed their antlers then grow new ones. You can find the shed antlers walking through the woods.

Lauren Gries Nancy, no worries, the antlers in the products chosen for this ideabook are made of resin! But as Cwas said many antlers are shed.

Lauren Gries Frenchdecor - I know that is one expensive farm table and there are of course others available, the best options would be to find one from an antique store. But for the select Houzzers, it can be nice to buy one such as the above that has already been hand picked and shipped from France.
