Hot air balloons are a burgeoning trend and surprisingly easy to incorporate into any decor. You can find balloon-themed items from all time periods, from the Victorian era to the '50s release of Around the World in 80 Days, more mod styling of the '60s and '70s and all the way to today. Though many of these designs are brilliant in kids' rooms or nurseries, I think some of them would be gorgeous in a living room too, especially the pillows.
But the first thing I have to do is watch Around the World in 80 Days for some serious inspiration! Then I think I'll hunt down some maps and my favorite worldly treasures to complete the look. I knew those ticket stubs from Paris would come in handy one day. — Mari from Small for Big

Now this is wallpaper I can sink my teeth into. The vintage illustrations would be amazing going down my boring, bland hallway.

I want to see this at the top of a long flight of stairs as a little reminder that you're going up into the sky.

I love Paris, and I love hot air balloons. This is such a beautiful and iconic image. It reminds me of being in Paris myself, even though I didn't see hot air balloons. I think my romantic little brain imagined them everywhere.

Subtle enough to fit right in on your sofa or bed, this hot air balloon print is sophisticated enough for any decor.

This brightly colored mobile/garland is perfect for a baby's room, but I'd also love to use it for my daughter's next birthday party.

I still need to find a better light for my daughter's room. I'd love to see this hot air balloon disappear into the ceiling.

I just added a chalkboard wall decal to my home, and my daughter loves the convenience of it. Now I wish I'd seen these designs from illustrator Marc Boutavant first. They're so cute.

Personalize this pillow with your family's name, or give it as a gift. It's a beautiful sentiment without any of the corny overtones.

This sweet growth chart has room for your child's name. The graphics keep it modern, and the colors are versatile for lots of different color schemes.

This shirt needs to be in my wardrobe right now. It's a sweet way to add some fun to my winter "uniform" of jeans, a cardi and a T-shirt.

These beautiful lanterns are easy to use and a sight to behold. Light them up, then watch them float away into the night sky. They're completely biodegradable too, so there are no worries about where they might land.

I'd love to add this print to my home office to remind me that anything is possible, without actually resorting to the saying "anything is possible." It's such a great layering of image and text too.

Fabric wall stickers are my favorite. They're more durable and easier to remove and reposition than other decals. This way, your child's growth chart can actually "grow" with you, wherever you may go.

These might be the most iconic hot air balloons I've seen. The muted colors add some retro charm to your room decor.

Can you sum up the wonder of a hot air balloon in one word? I think this necklace does it perfectly, reminding us to soar.

| Somehow these balloons remind me of classic Ferris wheels and hot air balloons all rolled into one quirky image. |

For a classically styled nursery, nothing can compete with this beautiful hot air balloon model hanging in the corner. I can't decide if I like the blue or the red one the best.

You know, I'm not sure I've ever seen the original movie, but the poster has me convinced I need to watch it right away. I decorated my daughter's nursery around a poster, and this one would be a great place to start for another room.

| At first glance this image of the Brooklyn Bridge seems very serious, but then those hot air balloons come into focus and add a little levity. |

Flensted's mobiles are the gold standard of all mobiles. I particularly like this design because the silhouettes are so unexpected.

dcer I have always loved hot air balloons. One of the closest things to magic we have on earth, don't you think? I love that wallpaper. It would be great in a bedroom as well. Thanks for the ideas.

olldbobbi I love that wallpaper, too! Question - $320.00 for a small sign? Is that a misprint?

Jennifer Haddad Ok now, that's just fabulous :) Thank you, I never thought of hot air balloon theme. For one thing I can't ever see myself getting into one! But your post made me look at the art in my office. It's *nice* but not all that adventurous. LOL I have two historical sketches of my home town, a print of a retro type writer and a coordinating one of a retro phone. I think it's time to take things a little further out of my comfort zone :)

dcer I agree that $320 seems like a lot for a sign that size! I did a double take when I first saw that price tag...
