When we sit down to craft, we engage in the same kind of process as when we design our interiors. We consider form, we're intimately connected to our materials and we do it because it grounds us in our sense of place.

Rough Linen I have linens, embroideries and tatting from my grandmother's house, a christening robe and wedding ring shawl - treasure them all. I gave the magnificent Paisley shawl to my sister, as it suits her house better.

defever I'm into quilting -- bed spreads, lap throws, wall hangings, place mats, etc. Each piece evokes the mood I was in when I chose the pattern and/or fabric. And my style is all over the board, too!

kdelano Anything labor-intensive grabs my attention, probably because I got deeply involved with crafting when I lived on a boat as a little girl. Recently I purchased a stack of circular hand-crocheted pieces for 25 cents each at a yard sale. I have no idea what I'll eventually do with them but they needed a home where they would be valued. defever olldbob: I didn't have patience either. Then we moved onto a 38' boat and cruised from British Columbia to Zihuatanejo, Mexico and back...no internet, no TV, no radio...nothing but Mother Nature's beauty and the hum of our engine. Away from the rat race called life, you begin to unwind and relax. That 38' boat turned out to be our home for over 10 years. Absolutely loved the water life, now back on land, having spent the last 3 years building our 950 sq. ft. house. We moved in 2 mos. ago. Quilting is now therapy for me.
